Remember sunshine?! Today’s wedding is bursting with summer vibes, and comes from Devon’s glorious Rockbeare Manor. Meg is stunning in a beautiful dress from Brides of Chester; David’s suit is perfect for summertime in light grey with pale blue accents. This is another fabulous wedding from Devon wedding photographer Evolve Photography – one of the region’s busiest and best wedding photographers. Photographer Mark gets a fantastic review from lovely Meg and David – scroll to see the full feature!“english

How did you choose your photographer?

Mark came highly recommended to us from our venue Rockbeare Manor. Having been in touch with Mark he sent a portfolio of photography from previous weddings at our venue, and one key thing stuck out for us, the pictures Mark takes are so natural and he captures real moments.

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!

Mark was incredible and we would highly recommend him! He managed capture our special moments throughout the wedding perfectly! He was also fantastic to work with and so easy going. Mark managed to give us some photos just a few days after the wedding, and the rest followed very quickly afterwards. The quality of the photos is also spectacular!

Videographer details if applicable – and any thoughts for other couples about having a wedding video?

Our videographer was Caroline Tuck who owns Focused Memory Productions (FMP). I would highly recommend her and also having a videographer! Your wedding day goes so quickly, and it is brilliant to have it captured on video and see all the little details that you missed and to re live the fantastic moments of the day!

How did the pandemic affect your wedding plans? Do you have any advice to share with couples planning their weddings right now?

Luckily it didn’t effect our date as we had booked our venue two years in advance. However unfortunately it did change our guest numbers. We were planning to have 100+ guests throughout the day and evening and we were only allowed 30 guests. Although this changed how we had imagined our day it actually made it so intimate and special having all of our closest family and friends with us. We would advise couples to make sure when planning your big wedding don’t forget the day is about the two of you and having had a small wedding means you can speak to all your guests and really relax and enjoy the day. We wouldn’t have had it any other way!

Tell us about your venue – what made this place special for you?

Rockbeare Manor is such a magical venue, it has a timeless classic look that is very luxurious with huge gardens and so many different rooms you can use for different parts of your day. The ceremony room is so special and that’s what made us fall in love with the place. Throughout the wedding planning and the day it’s self the staff were unbelievably accommodating and they made the day run so smoothly!

Did you love wearing your outfits? How was the dress / suit shopping experience?

We both loved wearing our outfits! David’s suit shopping was rather difficult as we did that during lockdown and the shops weren’t open, so we had to do it all online. David ended up choosing a suit from Debenhams online which was light grey and light in material for a summer wedding. As for my dress, I found that before COVID was around! After looking and trying dresses at many places, I found my dream dress at Brides of Chester. I found the dress was very comfortable and the style matched the venue perfectly! Brides of Chester was also very reasonable with the price of the dress and alterations which I didn’t expect.

Did you hire a florist? Tell us about any floral amazingness

We didn’t hire a florist, as I have awful allergies! So we decided that silk bouquets would be best and had these made by Dawn Moorcroft who was very accommodating and made personalised flowers for the cake, bouquets and button hole corsages.

As cake lovers here at English Wedding we’d LOVE to know who made your cake, and how delicious it was?

Our cake was absolutely fantastic, and was made by the local bakery in David’s home town Cullompton. The baker was Helen who is based at The Little Bakery, Cullompton. She made us a three tier naked Victoria sponge cake which was delicious!

Tell us about any special personal touches, or creative projects you made yourselves

David’s father Russell hand wrote all the place cards as he is experienced in calligraphy which was very personal to us. My mum Penelope painted a watercolour of the venue and we used this for the invitations and for the menu cards. In my dress, Brides of Chester sewed in a Mackay ribbon tartan bow for me which is part of my mums side of the family (and was my something blue!) And for the the favours I hand wrote thank you notes attached to a little key which is a bottle opener!

Did you personalise your vows or have any wedding readings? What were they?

We did personalise our vows and it was so special to have the opportunity to tell each other exactly how we feel infront of our closest family and friends! We weren’t allowed a reading during the ceremony because of COVID rules, however we added a reading which was read by my brother before the wedding breakfast began. The reading was – On your wedding day written by Unknown. It meant so much to us as it was the reading my brother read for my mum and my step dad on their wedding day.

What was your first dance song? Why did you choose it?

Our first dance song was Fresh Eyes by Andy Grammer and we chose it because it made us feel as though it describes perfectly seeing each other for the first time as husband and wife and to represented the start of our new adventure.
