Cosy, snug and rustic wedding inspiration at The Scenic Supper venue
Today’s stunning photoshoot arrived in my inbox in the early autumn, and I’ve been so looking forward to share it with you… it’s filled with the glorious colours of autumn and has all the golden loveliness you’d expect. It’s also bold, and sassy, and exciting – I hope you love this as much as I do! Huge thanks to lovely Alicia – Red Maple Photography – for sharing this stunning shoot with us today!

When I saw Christine’s idea for an autumnal shoot at the stunning Scenic Supper venue, I jumped at the chance to style the unique greenhouses. I went for a cosy, snug, rustic look and made the most of the beautiful warm colour scheme. My aim was to showcase a romantic image of Autumn. I chose to use pumpkins throughout the set-up as they’re naturally associated with this time of year, and they were the perfect, unique way to add character to the set-up.
Stationery – The Little Paper Loft
My stationery designs are hugely influenced by my own allotment where I grow all my own flowers and organic vegetables. The range featured in this shoot was heavily influenced by this, completely bespoke, and inspired by the venue itself (I love a greenhouse!).
The timing of this shoot leant itself to an autumnal colour palette and I focussed on what was currently ‘in bloom’ on my plot, which was predominantly sunflowers and seasonal foliage, with the odd late dusty rose. I design with an eco- eye and this range I have printed on UK produced plantable, cold pressed, seeded card which creates a subtle texture and, once planted, grows into a wildflower meadow.
This range complements the rustic venue so well and hopefully my love of the seasons as well as my allotment shines through the individual pieces.
Charlotte is one of our real brides and I wanted to choose something very different to the wedding dress she had chosen from us, and to show off her body art. Iconic 90’s spaghetti straps make a comeback in this dress with a beaded bodice and split front skirt – the perfect look for Charlotte.
Boho Capsule collection pieces – Bridal Gallery at The Cotswold Frock Shop
Simple soft lines including separates, with Bethan wearing a beautiful Alexandra hair vine
Here we gave Bethan a soft Bohemian chiffon skirt with embroidered lace bodice – we didn’t want a dress that would overwhelm her – the trend for outdoor and boho weddings will be with us for a while
I chose the classic strapless lace wedding dress Martella by Mori Lee for Bethan, as it brings out her natural beauty and flawless complexion
Bouquets, Stems & Floral Collar – Allium Florist
I took my floral inspiration and the loose and informal style from the beautiful surrounding Cotswold countryside. The wonderful ever-changing seasons, each bringing their own charm. The soft, luscious Autumnal hews which complimented the beautiful bridal gowns so splendidly. The quirky request of a dog collar, in keeping with the coat of a glorious golden retriever, I chose a variegated spray dianthus in deep cream and warm red. All blended in beautifully!
Cake – April Bakery
My inspiration for the cake was the wild location of the shoot. The natural stone of the Rollright Stones nearby was reflected in the texture and tones of the fondant with a tall base tier creating an illusion of grandeur in what is essentially a small cake. Touches of copper added a touch of luxury to the fondant. The flowers were again inspired by the natural surroundings, blackberries and wild grasses combined with delicate sugar roses and lots of foliage in neutral, autumnal tones. I wanted this cake to really envelop a wild, seasonal feeling, with a touch of decadence.
HMUA – Debbie Mac Hair and Makeup
Autumn was the inspiration for the colours and tones of make-up that were used for both of our lovely models – copper, gold, deep russet and earthy browns. It was very satisfying doing two totally different looks. Bethan’s natural, pretty make-up worked well with her beautiful freckles – I always think it’s such a shame when somebody comes to me and wants the freckles completely covered! Then Charlotte’s edgier bridal look needed to be reflected in the make-up… bearing in mind it was for a wedding, so that was a lot of fun to work with.
Jackets & Autumn Hair Accessories (worn by Bethan) – Alexandra Bespoke
Autumn is my absolute favourite season so when I found out that was the theme of the shoot I knew I had to create something special. The hairpieces I selected are from our new Enchanted Glass Collection, hand painted in a custom Autumn colourway with warm bronze and orange tones. Of course the jacket had to match, using some of my favourite autumn florals that tied in with the bridal bouquet.
