Billy & Bessie’s elegant rustic Cotswolds wedding with Sam Bennett Photography and Film

Published by Claire Gould on

Welcome to Monday everyone! How was your weekend? I hope you’re staying safe and well with everything that’s going on in the world right now. As ever, I want English Wedding to be a beautiful distraction, an escape from the day-to-day and a little reminder that normal life – and love, and weddings! will resume in time. Today’s is Billy & Bessie, whose outdoor wedding at The Swan Hotel in Bibury sings of summer days and love and laughter. The bride and groom are gorgeous, the day is moments of love and magic, and the setting is insanely beautiful – the word “quintessentially” was invented for this place! Bessie told us overall the day was just perfect – “the best day of my life!!!” and for me today scrolling through Sam Bennett Photography‘s gorgeous images of their day has been an absolute joy.

With love,

How did you choose your photographer?

Sam did my sister’s wedding and I thought the pictures and film were amazing, so we didn’t want to have anyone else!

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!

Yes 100%!! He did my sisters and we had a chat when he was there, and we got such an amazing vibe from him! Hes so friendly and such a down to earth guy! So we knew when you were going to book our wedding we would choose to have Sam!

Videographer details if applicable – and any thoughts for other couples about having a wedding video?

A wedding video is a must! Yes its more expensive but the money we spent on photography and film was worth it! It captures so many special moments of the day! We have watched our wedding video at least a hundred times!

Tell us about your venue – what made this place special for you?

We wanted to find a place where we could have ceremony and reception all at the same place and the swan at bibury ticked all those boxes! I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it.

Did you love wearing your outfits? How was the dress / suit shopping experience?

I ordered 2 dresses online from debenhams as I knew I didnt want to spend a lot of money! I tried them on and 1 dress was just perfect. It cost ÂŁ200 and I loved it. You dont have to spend loads of money to feel a million dollars. The suit shopping was more stressful, but the end result was perfect. The guys all looked amazing in their suits.

Did you hire a florist? Tell us about any floral amazingness

Yes the florist we used was Eden flowers in Burford and they were amazing! So pretty, probably better than I imagined.

As cake lovers here at English Wedding we’d LOVE to know who made your cake, and how delicious it was?

We didn’t have a wedding cake, we a cupcake tower and our friend made them for us. They were delicious!

Tell us about any special personal touches, or creative projects you made yourselves

I made all the centre pieces myself, used baked bean tins and covered in tissue paper! They looked quite effective.

Billy also got a song made for me, it was basically our story of how we met and how we got to where we are today, he played it after he had done his speech to the entire room! I was extremely taken back and it’s something I will never forget.

Did you personalise your vows or have any wedding readings? What were they?

No we didn’t, just kept it very traditional

What was your first dance song? Why did you choose it?

Tenerife sea by Ed Sheeran and we just loved the song, so knew one day it would be our first dance song!
