Francesca & Joe’s Mulberry House wedding, with Scott Miller Photography
So here’s an amazing boho English country house wedding to kick off February in fabulous style! Gorgeous and glam with pale yellow styling touches and eye-catching hand lettered backdrops, Francesca & Joe’s Mulberry House wedding sings of sunshine and celebration – and I just love it!
To create my vision, the venue needed enhancing. I wanted a very boho, whimsical, rustic feel and Starry Eyed Weddings delivered that for us!
Sacha at Starry Eyed Weddings did our flowers. What can I say – they were incredible, everyone has commented on them!! The flowers were very natural, wild and whimsical and better than I could have ever imagine. I mean we had a hanging display of flowers in the church which was spectacular and I’ve never seen anything like it before. I can’t recommend Starry Eyed Weddings more highly!

How did you choose your photographer?
My best friend used Scott for her wedding and I really liked his photos and the video, the fact he had a drone, so I wanted the same.
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
I was super nervous about seeing our wedding photos, but when I did, it was like reliving our wedding day all over again! I was thrilled with them, and we’re so lucky to have so many and such as variety.
We had some great evenings of laughter with my parents and Joe’s parents looking at all the photos.
We still need to choose what photos we want for the albums, there’s just so many to choose from and we want them all.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
Yes really pleased. I just wish we got some more group shots with our guests, but we just didn’t have enough time for them all.
Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:
Enjoy every minute! Nothing is ever perfect so go with it, it adds personality to your day!
Take time out for the two of you to have time together to take in everything that’s going on.
Write a list of photos you want and give it to your photographer and maid of honour/ best man, so when everything gets busy on the day you can get all the photos you want.
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
All from my own research and recommendations. I tried to keep all the suppliers as local as possible and we did pretty well with our fabulous decorator Hayley from ‘Starry Eyed Weddings’ living opposite our church. My amazing hairdresser ’Gail Gardner’ living around the corner. The amazing Harlow Brass Band and Ongar Singers both local clubs. I think we did well keeping it local, but it was really important to us to help support local businesses.
What’s your top tip for saving money?
If there is something you want to achieve or create, think of other ways to go about it other than the obvious.
I had a vision of a wedding procession with all my guests and a Brass Band play as we walked from our Church to our reception venue. Everyone laughed at me when I told them my idea. And I couldn’t find a brass band anywhere online through music entertainment companies that wasn’t an absolute fortune and were willing to do this. I was about to give up when I had the idea to look into local clubs and approach them about my idea, and Harlow Brass Band really came through for us! One the day all 12 of them walked with my wedding party (across a field) playing a jazzy ‘When the saints go marching in’ and it was the most amazing experience!
A first for everyone it seems but I hope Harlow Brass Band get asked to do it again now. It was quite a risk but it really paid off!!
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
The Flowers and Decorations from Starry Eyed Weddings – they made everything look so wonderful, giving our Church and reception venues the wow factor!
Also our evening band ‘Seven’ were incredible! They really kept us partying hard all night!
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
Our wedding stationery was a labour or love for us, I had a vision of what I wanted. I designed it, Joes brother put it together for us as a Graphic Designer and then our wonderful local printer Derek and DP Graphics printed them for us.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
My dress chose me and I love it!! I felt like a princess. I wish I could wear it every day!

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
My dress was a real statement so I kept all my accessories simple. Originally I wanted to have flowers in my hair, but because my dress had so much going on we had to change it last minute. Amazingly my tiara, which is beautiful and worked so well with my dress, was borrowed from my Auntie – as the tiara she wore on her wedding day, which was so special to be able to wear.
I also wore a diamond cross necklace that was my Nan’s, which meant a lot to me as she passed away this year and didn’t make the wedding. Having meaningful accessories on such a special day was important to me.
And what did the groom wear?
A dark blue 3 piece Ted Baker suit. With yellow and blue paisley printed tie. Brown shoes
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
Jill Jill Stuart Yellow Gown – funny enough Leonardo Dicaprio’s girlfriend was seen wearing it.
Gold shoes, flower crowns
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
Had to get the professionals in – I couldn’t have the stress of doing it myself.
Gail Garner most amazing hair stylist – https://www.gailgardner.co.uk/
Gemma Peace wonderful makeup artist – https://instagram.com/gemmapeacemakeup?igshid=11ertbu8rld91
Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?
I loved the rustic place name tags that we wrote ourselves.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
A huge 4 tiered semi-naked cake, with flowers and bushed on gold! It looked fantastic! Worked so well with the style of our wedding. We served the wedding cake for dessert, which worked brilliantly!
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
We would always recommend a live band, it really brings the party to life and gets everyone up dancing, adding such fun to your evening.
Little surprises are fun, we bought tambourines and flashing glasses and our guests loved them – wore them all night partying!!
What’s the best thing about being married?
Not having a Wedding to organise!! Haha
No…. being united as a couple, ready to take on the world together!
One of the best parts of the day for both of us was getting married in front of everyone that we love, it wouldn’t have meant as much without everyone there.
