Victorian Dream – romantic and flowy gowns for a stunning bridal look

Published by Claire Gould on

We’re drifting happily into this sunniest of weekends with a wonderfully floaty bohemian shoot from Australia. I just loved the seventies vibe of this one when it landed in my inbox, sent in by the lovely folks at Giant Invitations. Images are by Sephory Photography, and you’ll find a full supplier list at the end of the feature.

Drawing from the enchanting romance of the 1900s, Giant Invitations coordinated and styled an inspirational shoot with the leading experts within the bridal industry. The concept of ‘Victorian Dream’ was inspired by the timeless classic story of the ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’. The film created a wave of influence in the fashion world, especially amongst high-end designer brands such as Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs.

This Victorian wedding theme celebrates the feminine and vintage bridal style with elements of frills, bishop sleeves and high neck designs. The beautiful bride embraces the innocent beauty look on her special day, with the use of peach and blush tones. She wears a breathtaking vintage style engagement ring and wedding ring, paired with drop pearl earrings, while her husband wears a black leather watch and preppy style designer wedding band. Complementing the bride, the dashing groom is dressed in preppy and fashionable custom-tailored jackets, bow ties, vest and chino pants.

The reception includes a decadent array of spread of British and Victorian style catering, including tea, scones, jam and cream, biscuits, desserts and refreshing strawberries.

Throughout the shoot, you will find styling elements that fits within the Victorian theme, including details such as antique books, black ribbon straw hats, old letters and quill, vintage brush and mirror, lace parasol, a traditional picnic basket, velvet ribbons, and vintage style wedding jewellery.
