Published by Claire Gould on

Morning lovely! Do you have sunshine? I hope so – it’s beautiful here and I’m so tempted to hit the beach for an impromptu lunch picnic right now! Before I do though – something really rather beautiful is about to wriggle its way up your screen and into your heart! Stunning couple Rachael and James were married at Owen House Wedding Barn in Cheshire and their rustic country wedding is full of the loveliest moments and details… I mean, this adorable bunch of humans just make the BEST group shots I’ve seen in a LONG while!

How did you choose your photographer?

We chose Tony after meeting him at the Tatton Park Wedding Fair – we loved his relaxed style, friendly personality and amazing pictures.

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!

Everything about having Tony as our wedding photographer was great and far beyond what we expected. He was relaxed and funny and we all felt so comfortable and natural from start to finish. Tony is a truly incredible photographer and generally lovely person, he felt like a friend at our wedding, and whilst making sure he captured our day perfectly he also helped us enjoy our wedding to the absolute fullest. In hindsight Tony was really our Photographer, Director of Operations and Moral Support Coordinator so we cannot say thank you enough!!

We absolutely love that he captured so many candid moments which really tell the story of the day, and looking through our pictures we have been able to relive every moment. What’s incredible is that we not only have pictures to remind us of the stand out hilarious memories, but also some of the smallest moments of true happiness that were really just seconds of a day but will always remind us of how amazing it all was.

We have a beautiful collection of pictures which we are so happy with and we are truly grateful to Tony for showing our day so honestly. There wasn’t hours of posed or directed pictures, which is exactly how we wanted it, and as a result we have a catalogue of pictures of both James and I and all our guests enjoying the day we looked forward to for so long.

Tony’s amazing service didn’t just stop after our wedding day, the time and effort he put in to preparing our pictures and the slideshow he put together for us to watch at his studio (with a cup of tea on the sofa!) was above and beyond what we expected. It was just like reliving the day again, but this time we could take in all the amazing details and guests experiences which we might have missed on the day!! It means so much to us that he spent his time making sure our wedding experience was so great. We would recommend Tony to anyone!

Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?

An amazingly happy, perfect day and everything we imagined.

Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)

Wedding Fairs (Tatton)
Local businesses
Our venues open events
Bride Magazines

What’s your top tip for saving money?

Shop around and meet local suppliers rather than the big name companies… Quite often there’s some wiggle room too so don’t just accept the first offer.

… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?

The flowers which just made everything so beautiful, and we got a photo booth which our guests all loved!!

Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?

We used Vistaprint for the printing and then we bought accessories like gardeners twine and corn to make everything just how we wanted. Hobby Craft was great for DIY bits

Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?

Absolutely! My mum and sister cried so we all knew it was the one (they are not criers!) I also fell in love with wedding dress shop, and the girls there! I loved every single part of getting and wearing my dress!

Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:

Martin Thornburg – Along came Eve (Chester)

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!

My necklace on the day was a gift from my husband on the morning and my earrings were a present from my bridesmaids… so until the day of I was jewellery-less so I’m glad they have such great taste!
My shoes were from Jimmy Choo and a treat to myself!

And what did the groom wear?

James wore a navy morning suit with gold waistcoat and tie. We rented these from Slaters as they were affordable but great quality!

Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?

The bridesmaids wore pastel blue strappy dresses – we got these from Along Came Eve too! They were WTOO

Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?

My hairdresser and friend did all of our hair.
Our makeup was done by Liz Clough who has a studio in Hale

Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)

We went for a rustic theme with the flowers so lots of green and white with a touch of blue to match the bridesmaid dresses. Our Florist was Floristry and Events by Eden (Lara and Jess) absolutely loved them and would recommend them to anyone!!

General styling – did your venue need much decoration?

Lara and Jess from our florist did most of the venue set up but it was a beautiful space anyway with lots of rustic touches that Owens House already had in place. We did get some additional lighting above the top table and around the room for a little extra touch.

Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?

James grandma Mabel made 7 litres of Damson Gin for our wedding favours!! Everyone loved it and people were asking where to buy it!! Mabel should have a business!

The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?

We went for a simple rustic 3 tier semi naked cake we loved the simplicity and thought it suited our theme perfectly.

Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?

We had Tailor and Co as our wedding band and we found them on “bands for hire” they were amazing! They did an acoustic set for drinks and then the full band in the evening.
We had “old school photo booth” set up too which was great and our guests loved them!

Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:

Once your day has arrived relax and enjoy!! Don’t worry about a thing – it will be perfect. It goes in a flash so just enjoy every second!
Our venue drove us to a local pub for a quick drink whilst the tables were turned around – it was a great idea and have us 20 minutes to ourselves to take a breath.

What’s the best thing about being married?

Knowing we have commited to our soul mates forever! … And the honeymoon!
