Old Milking Parlour winter wedding style ideas from Cavokay House, with Emily Black Photography
It’s really important to me as a wedding blogger that I introduce every feature I share with you. Each photograph, each wedding styling idea is carefully selected for the blog and I like to explain why I love the articles we publish… but honestly today I couldn’t dream of writing a better introduction for you than lovely Laura from The Rustic Dresser has already done! Every detail, every image takes my breath away – the location and the gorgeous images by English Wedding team member Emily Black Photography are just the dreamiest. I can only call this wedding blog gold, and leave you in Laura’s capable hands to read and see more!
The Old Milking Parlour at Cavokay House is one of those venues that has an atmosphere all of its own which just encases you each and every time you walk in the doors. Some venues need styling in place before you can see their true potential come alive before your eyes but The Milking Parlour isn’t one of those. If the space could talk it would say “Hi there, come on in, kick your shoes off and relax”. It just has this cosy, warm and unmistakeable welcoming feel to it which makes it the perfect place to hold a wedding reception.
The barn is brimming with the most incredible exposed stone brick walls so I knew the styling needed to be delicate, romantic & slightly blurry around the edges to soften the overall effect. I also knew I wanted to create little areas of decoration that made it impossible for you not to go over and touch, taste and explore.
Lou & Colin, the owners, had so many amazing contacts already that it really didn’t take us long to be able to put our team together for this spring inspired shoot. One aspect that was really important to us all was to have a caterer get involved to add a whole new dimension. Else Event Catering joined the group and on the day brought the most spectacular looking main courses, breads (freshly made that morning) sharing platters, meats and brownies. I cannot believe how quickly the team had all the dishes ready to go and their attention to detail is just mind blowing. You also have no idea how hard it was not to dive straight in and sample all of the delicious foods on display!!
Lou mentioned that she had a florist in mind that she’d love to work with and so we welcomed Becky from Mrs J Flowers to the group. I hadn’t seen any of Becky’s work in person beforehand but I can honestly say hand on heart, the florals that she produced were totally incredible. When I have designs swirling around my head I always feel like something is slightly off and that I am missing something and on this shoot I realised what it was… flowers! Becky’s designs just added the final element and totally finished off all of the decoration in the most amazing way. So inspiring watching her work and to see her re do the bridal bouquet on the day until she was completely happy with it, just shows you how passionate she is about what she does.
Once last mention must go to our beautiful Hampshire wedding photographer, Emily. I was lucky enough to work with Emily on my mini shoot late last year and was so chuffed to hear she was going to be with us for this one too. I don’t think I have met a nicer, more gentler person in my whole life who lets you waffle on about what it is you’re after in a picture in the most inept way, but then can somehow totally nail exactly what it is you’re asking for. Huge respect for grabbing all of the shots we needed, in our timescales and all whilst being 8 months pregnant too! I’m just so sorry that I can’t mention everyone individually as they bloody deserve it. (I would but I have to remember this isn’t my own blog and I have a word limit) Just know that the day wouldn’t have gone as smoothly as it did without you. I wouldn’t have got the chance to watch you work and be beyond impressed with your passion, dedication & knowledge and I wouldn’t have got to have as many laughs as I did and feel like I have known you forever in the space of 6 hours. Amazing.
