Last month it was announced that the laws governing where folks get married in England and Wales might change – and it’s about time, we think! We dream of windswept elopements on sea cliffs, of secret woodland glades for our tipis and festoon-lit wedding celebrations… and of creating and speaking our own vows which don’t include legal jargon or a single religion if we don’t want them to! We’ll be watching the development of that little story carefully here at English Wedding HQ.
Today’s wedding inspiration shoot fits perfectly into the free-spirited, beautiful boho vibe… it’s from wedding photographer www.katiemortimore.com who worked with a lovely creative team to put together a stunning backdrop for a natural or humanist wedding by the beach. With a beautiful dress by Lisa the Dressmaker, flowers from Bellafiori and props / styling by Wonderlands, who provided the props (we LOVE!!!) and gorgeous stationery from Ananya Cards.
The shoot took place on the stunning West coast of the Island of Jersey, overlooking the largest beach on the Island, St Ouens bay at the end of Summer. We kept the shoot very minimalist with a classic but rustic boho theme. The location is not a commercial venue as we wanted to escape commercialisation. But in turn it can be used for wedding photos, and itself and other surrounding areas with similar views, could and are potential venues for couples.
The elements included bespoke dresses for the bride and bridesmaid created by local dressmaker Lisa. The flowers, both the bouquet and head piece, included many natural rustic additions including wheat, poppy seed heads and feathers. Anna of Wonderlands put together the styling which included hand made macrame pieces. The final supplier Ananya cards is a dual based London and Jersey Stationer. The simple floral designed perfectly complimented the styling details and theme. Vintage accessories were used throughout the styling including the necklace, candlesticks and cutlery to give a classic edge.
We felt the shoot will appeal to a wide range of readers including those considering a destination and potentially even beach wedding, but whilst wanting to stay within the UK.
