Polly & Jon’s boho chic wedding at The Ivy Chelsea Garden, with Jonny Barratt Photography
Beautiful bride Polly and gorgeous groom Jon married at The Ivy Chelsea Garden – a vibrant space for a couple who are just bursting with personality. Their day is a breath of pure joy – the relaxed and intimate celebrations are all the more stunning for the spontaneous laughter that breaks out in occasional images, and I just love seeing the expressions of the entire bridal party – it’s a day which is filled with happiness, and beautifully captured by lovely Jonny Barratt Photography. Oh, and it’s totally convinced me about veils. Veils are ahmaaaaaazing…

Stylish, relaxed photos is what we wanted and Jonny delivered 200%. Despite the dining room being intimate he managed to almost go unnoticed (in the nicest way possible) and still deliver an amazing result.
We both felt quite anxious about having a camera on us all day but Jonny was discreet and the nicest person we could have asked for. Everyone commented on how great he was.
Relaxed and intimate was the style we were aiming for, for both the look and feel of the day.
My favourite details were my jewellery pieces which I made from the additional beads and crystals left over from my dress being altered; Jon’s favourite thing was his outfit! But we both loved seeing all the detail of each aspect come together on the day. When we were at the venue and had everyone in one room it all tied in better than we had imagined it would.
We love The Ivy restaurants anyway and the fact the Chelsea Garden one was only a two minute walk from the Town Hall made sense for us. It was fitting to the style we wanted and had a private dining room that suited the size of our party perfectly.
My dress was called Asteria by Jenny Packham. I had wanted a slinky dress and a friend had suggested Jenny Packham for that style so I went to the store with my sister-in-law, just to browse initially but I knew it was special as soon as I picked it up so I got it there and then, although my parents kindly bought it for me which was lovely. As the saying goes, when you know, you know!
Jon wore a Suit Supply suit, shoes from the Italian brand Santoni and his tie was from Hackett.
The Bridesmaids’ shoes and dresses were both from Asos.
We spread the celebrations over a few days holding the ceremony and dinner on the Friday in London and then the reception party on the Bank Holiday Sunday back in our home town in Kent and this took the pressure of off the Friday hugely so we could relax more. We would recommend that if you’re happy to break the two up as we essentially had two amazing days instead of one.
Save anything that you can as keepsakes to look back on. We made a wedding memory box and it’s such a lovely thing to have. We have a favour, dried out flowers from the bouquet, the menu from the dinner, even a napkin as it has the restaurant name on it!
