All shades of modern & spring vibes at The Olde Bell Coaching Inn

Published by Claire Gould on

Today’s wedding style editorial is fabulously creative, with simple touches you can use for your own wedding day without breaking the bank. I adore the super pale florals with innovative accents: a darker succulent peeking out from a bed of delicately toned roses just looks divine! The cake is wonderfully elegant with soft buttercream and a sprig of perfectly placed greenery. The images are by our lovely friend Masha Unwerth, who tells us a little about her ideas for this wedding concept. There’s a full supplier list below, of special interest for any of you lovelies tying the knot in Berkshire. Have the most wonderful day everyone! I’m about to set off on a little Lake District adventure, scouting out a venue for teaching calligraphy workshops! Claire xxx

I have always wanted to organize a styled bridal shoot since I have been photographing weddings over the last couple of years. For this shoot I was looking for something rather old and cosy, almost an antidote to the typical classic wedding venue, but with a modern twist. The Malthouse of Olde Bell in Hurley is a beautiful Victorian house perfect for smaller weddings, I was excited to be able to showcase some of the pretty accents between this varied character vintage space and my own vision of pastel mood and modern bridal dress I chose for Maryia, (our model), by using natural light and keeping things simple.

Gabi from The Fine Flowers Company did a fab job on the inspirational bridal bouquet and coordinating floral centrepiece, which added a touch of luxury to the old but pretty interior of the Victorian Malt House where most of the images were taken. Gordana from Just Because Cakes picked up on the brief really well by creating a statement one-tier wedding cake, accented with fresh flowers, which looks simple yet stylish and is a perfect choice for a pastel May spring garden wedding.

Both Juliet from Juliet Make-up and Lorraine from Bridal Hair Design have many years of working in the wedding industry and often work together, so having them on board was not only special but seeing the girls delivering 100% on the mood board I felt very lucky to have the opportunity to collaborate with such professionals.

Adding to that was the simple private walled garden and the small but literally(!) sweet dessert corner and wedding table which were both set up by my assistant, Tania, with perfectly matched stationery designed by the very talented Victoria Blum. I felt the creative mood was complete for couples leaning towards smaller, more intimate weddings who love stepping a little into history, and are happy to add some character and personality to their wedding photographs!
