Alex and Scott’s wedding full of surprises at The Roundthorn, with Camilla Lucinda Photography
Happy Tuesday everyone! This week is flying by – I’m normally good at getting blog posts ready well in advance, but today I’m flying by the seat of my pants! I blame the sunshine… haha! Now I know you’re going to love Alex and Scott’s day. The styling is beautiful in rose gold and dusky pink. The images are stunning – they’re by my lovely friend Camilla Lucinda Photography – and there’s a wonderful story which you’ll see from the pics in a sec. In short, this wedding has absolutely everything: Alex is soooo gorgeous and Scott her perfect match – I’ll let the happy couple tell you more!
We bought a lot of decoration for our venue, I loved the soft fairy lights look so our venue was covered in micro LED lights, it was so magical! Our tables looked stunning – we had rose gold sequin table runners, with mirrored plates and LED candles. We also paid extra to have a starlight back drop behind the top table which looked amazing! We struggled to find rose gold table numbers so we bought plain ones and spray painted them in a sparkly rose gold. We also spray painted our ‘no phones or pictures on social media’ picture frame and arranged for a design to be printed to be displayed in our venue.
For flowers I used a local company in Carlisle, Vandella Florist. I went on recommendation and I was not disappointed! I sent pictures and met with my florist Alison a few times, I had an idea in my head of what I wanted but I was blown away on the day! They were even more beautiful than I could have imagined and make all the pictures look stunning.

We went around various wedding fayres and spoke to lots of different photographers, we felt we had the best connection with Camilla. She was very down to earth and not pushy like others were! She was also really friendly and seemed genuinely interested in hearing about our wedding plans.
Camilla is absolutely amazing – we were over the moon with our pictures. They really told a story and me and Scott both felt so at ease whilst we were having our picture taken (we were thinking it was going to be really awkward!) Camilla made us both feel so comfortable and our pictures were all so beautiful.
We got a sneaky preview the day after the wedding and Camilla shared a beautiful blog saying very kind and caring words about our day. The emotions were still very fresh and we both shed a few tears! When we got our usb back with all the pictures we were overwhelmed! So many beautiful pictures of all of our guests and so many memories captured forever.

The story behind this wedding is so beautiful – Alex & Scott got married at The Roundthorn in Penrith on the 4th May 2018, they spent the whole day there, getting ready, married and reception. Alex & Scott were slightly nervous when it came to their ceremony, and I always give all my couples so many different options to make their day THEIRS and special, and suggest they don’t always just follow tradition. One of my suggestions was for them to have a first look together before the ceremony – and MY GOD am I happy they did, because it was the most special, heart warming moment I’ve ever had the honour to photograph! Scott was in pieces when he first clocked eyes on Alex, and the fact that they were doing this in private meant it was a moment that only they shared, (as well as me!).
These two had a very big surprise they wanted to announce at the end of the speeches, one which only a very small handful of guests knew about – they were pregnant! They announced it by placing envelopes on everyone’s table and one person from each table had to open it. When they got inside, to everyone’s surprise it was a baby scan photograph! Now that’s certainly one great way to announce the news to all your nearest and dearest in one fell swoop!
Alex & Scott’s day will always be a stand out wedding for me – AND I nearly cried during the speeches when they were announcing it. ~ Camilla Lucinda Photography

Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
Beautiful, magical and very very emotional!
Your wedding style or theme:
We had a Rose Gold and dusky pink themed wedding.
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
We met a lot of them at wedding fayres we attended. Our cake maker and flower supplier were recommendations.
What’s your top tip for saving money?
If you don’t absolutely need it, don’t buy it! We had a lot of things we bought but never used, plan everything out and anything you can DIY, do it!
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
Our flowers, they were so beautiful and everyone commented on how gorgeous they looked. Also we got the Top package for our photography.. at the end of the day it is the only thing from your wedding that you can keep forever!
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
I researched different designs and actually found a design I loved on Zazzle.com – we changed a few things from the template given and then ordered them online. They came out perfect and exactly what we wanted.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
Yes! I tried around about 12 dresses on, I wanted to try every style, it’s true what they say the dress you imagine yourself in isn’t always look like what you think is going to! I knew I liked the fitted dress style but my dress was so figure hugging with sleeves, I never imagined I would find anything like it! I took an entourage with me to my dress fitting and everyone was crying when I tried ‘the one’ on!

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
As my dress was very detailed, I went minimal on jewellery. I stuck to my theme of rose gold and had dropper earrings, a simple rose gold very delicate choker necklace. My shoes and bag for the day were also rose gold, everything has to match!
And what did the groom wear?
Scott wore a very smart navy blue suit with a crisp white shirt, matching navy waistcote, tan coloured shoes and a lovely dusky pink tie to match in with our colour scheme.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
My bridesmaids were a range of different shapes and sizes so we opted to go with a multiway dress to suit everyone. We stayed with the dusky pink colour theme, all bridesmaids wore their dress slightly different on the top half along with rose gold square heeled sandals. They looked so amazing!
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
I went full glam for my wedding make up! I wanted to look different to my everyday look as I normally wear quite a lot of make up. I was so happy with my overall look and so many people commented on my make up! It did not budge all day and I felt like a princess. My hair turned out perfect, I wore it up and kept it out of the way as my hair is so long, not a hair was out of place at the end of the night!
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
Our cake was so amazing and tasted insane! I’m very fussy and couldn’t choose between flavours so we ended up with an impressive 4 tier cake with 4 different flavours. We had the bottom biggest tier raspberry and white chocolate, the second tier was chocolate orange flavour, the third was plain chocolate flavour and the top tier was Victoria sponge with strawberry jam – something for everyone! I wanted it to be decorated with artificial silk flowers so we had our cake plain, just decorated with ivory buttercream on the outside.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
We had a DJ at our wedding, he was very good and played something for every age. The dance floor was full all night! He also did requests too.
Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:
I know everyone says it.. but it really does come and go so quickly! Don’t sweat the small details, you don’t even notice it on the day! I also spent a lot of my night talking to most of my guests having catch ups etc.. my husband never left the dance floor, can you guess who had the best night?! I was so focused on trying to speak to everyone individually and worrying if my guests were having a good time, at points I forgot to just stop and enjoy it!
What’s the best thing about being married?
Knowing I get to share my life and experiences with my best friend for the rest of my life for me is the best thing about being married.
