Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you’re relaxing and enjoying a peaceful day wherever you are (is anyone else watching back to back world cup matches? no? just me?! I have to admit I’m not really paying attention…) It’s very easy to be distracted with this much wedding pretty on my screen, to be honest… I’ve been excited to share Hannah and Ben’s wedding with you – it’s gorgeously full of spring styling, and brought to you by lovely Ashdown Park wedding photographer Damion Mower, who is based in Buckinghamshire. Hannah is absolutely stunning in her English Rose wedding dress, and Ben wears a tail suit in charcoal, looking every bit the dashing country gentleman!
In the church we had spring flowers which were arranged by the church’s florist. Our reception was in a converted chapel so we had stained glass windows all around. We had tall flower centre pieces and lights in a organza tulle wrapped around the bannisters. These little details really complimented the venue.
We made the wedding favours. We had small mason jars filled with personalised My M&M’s® with a picture of us on them and then we attached a label to the top of the jar which said our names and the wedding date. They looked amazing and so many guests commented on how amazing they were.
Ben’s mother made all of the order of services and a bridesmaid made the table names, which were named after every year we’ve been together (2008, 2009 etc) and they had photos of us in those years on them. A family friend also did our wedding video which was a great personal touch.

How did you choose your photographer?
We met Damion at a wedding fair and we clicked with him straight away. He was the first photographer who seemed interested in us and our story and didn’t just fling pictures at us without even a ‘hello’.
We were extremely pleased with our photographer. We are also glad we opted for the second photographer to capture more of the day that may have been missed. Damion was with us from early morning until around 10:30pm and was a true gentleman the entire time. Even in the lead up to the wedding Damion had great communication with us and has continued to after the wedding as well. The engagement shoot we had was a lot of fun and actually very useful to make us comfortable on the big day.
We were blown away when we saw our wedding photos for the first time and were able to relive the whole day. So many of our friends and family said how amazing they looked.

Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
The best day of our lives!
Your wedding style or theme:
Traditional English and our colour scheme was lilac and lemon.
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
Most of them we found through searching online, hitched.com was very useful. The DJ, florist, car and chair covers were recommended by our wedding venue.
What’s your top tip for saving money?
Utilise family and friends’ skills if at all possible. For example, our friend did Hannah’s hair, a family friend made the cake, one of the bridesmaids made the table names and another family friend did our wedding video.
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
Photographer and venue
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
Our wedding invites were made by Elle Bee design. We went for a pocket fold design with a glitter backing and glitter belly band in lilac. We then wax sealed every envelope with our personalised wax stamp. Even though the wax sealing took a while it was well worth it. We had so many comments on how original and personal they were.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
I tried on about 8 dresses before I found my dress. All of the dresses I tried on were beautiful and my everyone said they looked lovely but none of them felt right. I didn’t feel like me. I moment I tried on my wedding dress I knew! I instantly pictured myself walking down the aisle and that hadn’t happened with any other dresses.

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
My wedding shoes were from Rainbow Club and my jewellery was very simple as the dress did a lot of the talking. I wore a ring that was left to me by my Grandma and another ring that my Nan gave me the night before my wedding which was her Grandmother’s. My nan also had a garter made for me with the wedding date and our names printed on it.
And what did the groom wear?
Ben hired his tails from Moss Bros. He wore a charcoal blazer with lighter grey trousers, a lilac patterned waist coat with a lilac tie and pocket square.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
I had 5 bridesmaids that wore long lilac dresses.
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
I had my hair styled by one of my fiends who is a hairdresser, she also styled my mum.
My make up was done by the lovely Emma ( www.emmalilycurran.co.uk). I had a trial before had along with my Mum which was great. It allowed me to see what I liked and would work for me before the big day. Having a trial is definitly worth the money. On the day Emma also did my Maid of Honour’s make up. Having my make up done by a professional was well worth the money – one less thing to worry about!
Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)
Our wedding flowers were amazing! Everyone commented on how beautiful they looked and how they complimented our wedding so well. Our flowers were arranged by Zara Flora in East Grinstead. She arranged the bouquets, button holes, corsages and centre pieces.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
Our wedding cake was made by a family friend we had 6 tiers ( the top 2 being fake) with iced flowers cascading down. We went with fruit, chocolate and Victoria sponge so we had a nice variety. The flowers were lilac and lemon to compliment our wedding theme and it looked beautiful when surrounded by the stain glass windows.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
We had a DJ that was recommended by the venue. He was great!
Ben arranged for a traditional chimney sweep to come to the wedding venue between the starter and main course and he went round and had photos with us and our guests. The chimney sweep had a real black cat sitting on his shoulder too.
We also had a Photo Booth provided by Magical Times Photo Booth which was a huge hit and whole lot of fun. We definitely recommend having a photo booth.
Words of wisdom: share your best piece of advice for other couples:
Everything on the day will fall into place. Try to enjoy and embrace every moment of the day because it flies by so fast. We definitely recommend taking 10 minutes go off by yourselves to have a moment just the two of you and take in the day.
What’s the best thing about being married?
Having someone by your side and there for you whenever you need them. Being a support as well as a supporter is great. We love being together and now we get to do it for the rest of our lives!
