Inspiration for a woodland fairytale wedding with butterflies!

Published by Claire Gould on

You’re not alone if you secretly wish English brides and grooms could marry anywhere, like they can in the US: at home, on the beach, or in a beautiful woodland setting like this. That time will come… in the meantime, there’s so much to be said for bringing nature indoors – choose woodland foliage and twisting branches in your bouquet; add butterflies to your tables and stationery; and choose a venue with a patch of woodland nearby so you can escape for beautiful portraits with your love!

Today’s styled shoot was sent in by our lovely friend and inspirational wedding stationery designer Emma Jo. Images are by Nina Pang, and you’ll find a full supplier list of all the super talented creatives involved below.

Emma’s wonderfully elegant stationery nods towards the ‘Fairytale’ theme while being elegant enough to suit lots of couples and their weddings. We love the simple, minimal design with folding laser cut butterflies! Emma’s brush lettering skills come into play with the apple place settings, and she created complementary calligraphy-style pieces for the cake topper, cocktail stirrers and butterfly place settings.

I absolutely love the honesty seed heads in the bouquet. We used to have these in our home every Christmas – I remember peeling them with my sister, and have even found seeds so we can grow our own for next year! Jennie at Liberty Lane Flowers created two different bouquets – one softer, using syringa, trailing clematis and sweet peas, with the more alternative bouquet being built from a structure of dried contorted willow.

The table is gorgeously floral with a table runner featuring home-grown figs, hyacinth, muscari, hyacinths, alliums and beautiful caramel yellow roses on a bed of moss with local foraged foliage and syringa.

The tiered wedding cake by Pink Cocoa is gorgeous, with a delicate grey blue watercolour wash running across the tiers to echo the dreamy feel of the location. And we love the semi naked cake with its spring of honesty and white laser cut ‘Happy ever after’ topper from Emma Jo Stationery!
