Ahhh… I’m LOVING writing blog posts for you this week… because it’s summer on my screen and that makes me happy! Today’s feature is lush, sunny, and so captivating you can almost smell the lemon groves. A luxury Mediterranean inspired summer bridal photoshoot at the romantic Almonry Barn wedding venue in Somerset, organised by lovely Ellie Lou Photography. Our bride wears a beautiful silk wedding dress with lace detail by fabulous bespoke bridal dressmaker Ailsa Munro and a colourful citrus-infused colour palette of yellows, orange and pink tones and gold / gold leaf details.

Daisy Lane Floral Design designed the floral arrangements, which included a colourful bouquet, a set of floral hoops and a beautiful moongate set amongst the trees in the orchard. The flowers included in the photoshoot were antirrhinum, asclepias, astilbe, cosmos, dahlia, hypericum, sweet peas, lysimachia, stocks, roses (Buttercup, David Austin Darcy, David Austin Julliet) and eucalyptus.

Oh my word I LOVE this shoot!!! The colours, the elegance and the light through the windows… every detail is spot on, it’s absolutely beautiful. I’ve been saving it up, because it’s lovely to have something to inspire all of our weekends… and this has everything from a La Sposa gown (oh, that lace!) and velvet ribbons, insanely beautiful florals and a moody, luxe, dreamy colour palette.

The venue is Shropshire’s stunning Davenport House. The inspiration was – and I LOVE this – Vanity Fair at the Oscars. How’s that for a wedding theme?! Elegant glamour inspired wedding styled shoot with blacks, dark greys, deep greens and pops of colour. Images are by lovely Shropshire wedding photographer Laura May Photography.

Taking inspiration from the iconic Condé Nast publication Vanity Fair, a sense of drama and old Hollywood glamour was created with this shoot. The team wanted to create something more elevated and elegant for such a fantastic venue, with deep blues, crimsons and golds taking centre stage with the table décor.

Hey everyone! Today we have a really contemporary and romantic wedding look to share with you – with beautiful images from Kingsdown Rectory in Kent. This organic, pared back shoot was planned and styled by lovely Laura Jayne at Your Wedding, Your Way and photographed by Kate Hennessy Photography. It’s the most glorious inspiration for couples planning a relaxed and elegant wedding in a homely setting where they have freedom to create their own style. “With the outdoor elements, we wanted to portray the flexibility and scope of the space. The tablescape was designed to demonstrate how to mix the rustic look with elegant details to create a neutral, considered setting with natural elements. The shoot team consisted of mainly Kent based suppliers in this brand new, recently launched venue. Our gorgeous models’ smiles shone throughout the day and have created some stunning images, we hope you agree!

I thought we all deserved a little treat this Sunday afternoon, so gather round and snuggle up for an extra special dose of wedding lovely. Our fabulous friend Amanda Karen Photography sent in this beauty of a shoot and I’ve fallen for it hook, line and sinker. The styling is exquisite; the colour palette is fabulous. This is a shoot in two halves: the copper dress takes my breath away and I’d love to see more brides wearing such a bold statement dress… but if that’s not for you then the bridal jumpsuit is unique, different and 100% on trend for 2019! Both outfits are by the always fabulous Charlie Brear.

Good morning, beautiful! Today we’re sharing a key look for 2019 weddings – one that can be recreated easily once you ‘get’ the styling concepts – and one I know will make 2019 a year of weddings to remember. It’s all about understated elegance with careful attention to a few quality details. For me this is a look of almost effortless wedding style – combining simple, minimal details with the smallest touches of real luxury and softness. The florals are absolutely key: delicate and feminine blooms in a soft palette of ivory, nude, blush and soft peach with pops of glorious coral. Texture comes from hare’s tail grasses and striking white anthuriums, while white lilac and butterfly ranunculus bring softness to the look. The colours are what I love most about today’s floral design: those carefully arranged coral blooms really make the arrangements look contemporary and luxurious, don’t you think?

Step back in time to a world of glamour, style, sophistication and graceful elegance where romance blossomed under watchful eyes and often amidst unspoken words that stay locked up in the heart; an era where love is conveyed via series of handwritten and perfumed letters written and exchanged between the beloved; when simple gestures such as a look or a favourite book are the loveliest of mementos to remember your beloved by; a time where romance is not always expressed verbally or openly like in our modern day but still felt deeply with the briefest of touch or the gentlest gaze.

How to style your wedding with British grown flowers, with Alexandra Rose and Bethany Stanley Photography (23)
FEATURED

Today’s feature is a little different – and an absolute must-read, we think! It’s already one of our faves here at English Wedding HQ and I hope you love it too! Lovely Alexandra from Alexandra Rose Weddings wrote it for us, working alongside a fabulous creative team with images captured beautifully by Bethany and James who specialise in Fine Art photography and film making. Alexandra’s floral styling is just wonderful – she applies an imaginative way of thinking when working with garden grown flowers, allowing the shape of the flowers themselves to dictate the overall design. Her style is beautifully naturalistic and sculptural too.

“I want to inspire couples to be more aware of the seasons when choosing flowers and reflect the patterns of wildlife.  Part of the charm and excitement of using British blooms is working with nature and what is available at the time.  I thought our perfect setting would suit a quintessentially English venue situated in the Cotswolds and right along the River Windrush, The Old Swan and Minster Mill. The beautiful, historical features of the ‘inn on the river’ really tied everything together beautifully.  I really couldn’t think of a more perfect countryside setting with acres of stunning gardens filled with lavender, Willow trees and English Roses.

Ah, Monday – would you allow me to wear my pyjamas just a little longer while I blog? It’s been a busy old weekend here at English Wedding HQ and I’m just a little sleepy… and yes, I know it’s nearly lunchtime! How was your weekend? Anyways, I have the loveliest wedding style ideas for you today – from my lovely friend Sheryl at Oobaloos Photography in Cheltenham. Sheryl stepped in at the last minute to capture this beautiful photoshoot from Lords of the Manor Hotel, a former 17th century rectory situated in the heart of the idyllic Cotswolds countryside. I was thrilled when she asked me if I’d send one of the new invitation suites we’re now selling in the English Wedding Shop (go see!) and I’m just over the moon to be sharing all of these lovely images today.

You’re not alone if you secretly wish English brides and grooms could marry anywhere, like they can in the US: at home, on the beach, or in a beautiful woodland setting like this. That time will come… in the meantime, there’s so much to be said for bringing nature indoors – choose woodland foliage and twisting branches in your bouquet; add butterflies to your tables and stationery; and choose a venue with a patch of woodland nearby so you can escape for beautiful portraits with your love!

Emma’s wonderfully elegant stationery nods towards the ‘Fairytale’ theme while being elegant enough to suit lots of couples and their weddings. We love the simple, minimal design with folding laser cut butterflies! Emma’s brush lettering skills come into play with the apple place settings, and she created complementary calligraphy-style pieces for the cake topper, cocktail stirrers and butterfly place settings.
