Mollie Makes: Weddings – book review and giveaway

Win a copy of Mollie Makes: Weddings – the latest publication from the UK’s favourite craft curators! As a wedding blogger I’m lucky enough to get free copies of some brilliant books, and this one has to top my list.

Mollie Makes Weddings (1)

Give your wedding a really personal touch with craft projects written by some of Mollie Makes’ favourite experts. The projects are designed for people who love crafts: be prepared to spend hours making some of these, and know you’ll be rewarded with gorgeous keepsakes of your day.

My highlights – Mollie Makes: Weddings

The button stem bouquet project is great; and you can adapt it easily with different colours or styles of button – go vintage with muted pastels or keep it colourful if you prefer!
Mollie Makes Weddings (4)The book includes more detailed projects which will take you some time – this cross stitch sampler is beautiful, but I love its potential as a family heirloom. Templates are included for alphabets and for the birds, arrows and heart designs. There’s even a simple introduction to cross stitch at the back of the book, which is really good for (ambitious!) beginners.

Mollie Makes Weddings (5)Loving the rock n roll cushions by Zoe at Love from Hetty & Dave!
Mollie Makes Weddings (6)The project I’d try first would be the fabric corsages and boutonnieres. I’m not blessed with a natural talent for fabric crafts, but these look gorgeous and they don’t seem too hard to make… the frayed edges really appeal to me!
Mollie Makes Weddings (7)

Emily from Love Me Sew has a real talent. Her stitched and appliqued photo album cover is amazing – another project I’d love to try – and she also runs crafternoons for hen parties in Leeds.
Mollie Makes Weddings (8)
Mollie Makes Weddings (9)Outdoor weddings, barn weddings or tipi weddings need these paper decorations with tassels by Kirsty Neale – really simple to make and pretty to display too!

All in all there are 20 projects for all levels of craftiness, including napkin rings, place settings, cake toppers, wedding invitations, a rustic heart centrepiece, wedding favours, glass flower displays, and more.

It’s nice that Mollie Makes have included some ideas for pieces you can buy from UK craft sellers: there are fabric, paper and button bouquets as well as little felt animal cake toppers and creative place card ideas. (I adore the nests on page 59!)
