Chic bridal photography
Greg from TP Photography submitted something just a little different for the English Wedding blog, and I’d love to know what you think.
This is bridal photography as a collaboration between local wedding suppliers: the kind of teamwork which builds a close rapport between suppliers — and I love that these informal little teams are dotted all around the country.
The shoot involved the fabulous Green House Hotel — an eco-friendly wedding venue in Bournemouth, Bridal Designs Wedding Jewellery and Cloudlight Photography,
Find a wedding photographer you love, and you’ll probably feel the same about the florists, cake companies and stationers they recommend to you as well.
The Wedding Show Stars: Jean Ellis
Jean Ellis must have flown down from heaven or some other magical realm: surely no one can really have an imagination like this! A real star of The Wedding Show last weekend, Jean called me earlier in the week to say hi. I’d only met Jean’s daughter at the show, and had a quick chat about the English Wedding blog — but promised to write about Jean’s incredible creations.
I don’t know quite what to say — Jean Ellis’s work is out of this world, creative and inspiring. My writing simply can’t do Jean Ellis hairpieces and fascinators justice — so look at the pictures — and be amazed!
Choosing bridal accessories to suit your dress
When, how and where should you choose jewellery for your wedding day? Could you use a little bit of advice about styles of wedding necklace, types of pearls etc? Wedding jewellery is a competitive market for suppliers and there is a huge amount of choice for brides out there — I know I wouldn’t know where to start (so many pretty sparkly things!) but with a little help from guest blogger and wedding jeweller Julieann it all becomes crystal clear.…
Why we’re still in love with vintage
The trend for vintage inspired weddings isn’t going anywhere, with brides and wedding designers alike still choosing vintage for their inspiration for 2011 weddings.
Why does vintage work so well? It’s a style that will suit everyone, and a theme that fits the times: making your own wedding decorations is affordable and fun, and a bit of nostalgia is always a treat.
Bridal jewellery is no exception and I’m in love with so many designers and online stores at the moment I could recommend dozens — today it’s the latest from Olivier Laudus. Over to Sangeeta Laudus to tell you more:

On the map — Pop the Question
Another virtual Sunday drive around the wedding supplier map has led me to a brand new discovery — and a cracking idea! This is one to tell all your single friends about: the temporary engagement ring. Oh yes.
Imagine the scene: romantic restaurant, candlelight, cosy corner table, loving couple. Boy gets down on one knee, makes little speech, produces intriguing little box…

On the map! Julieann beads
This morning I’ve been on a little tour of the country via the rather clever wedding supplier map. Think of it as my Sunday drive! Every now and then I have a little peek to see who’s on there — and it’s fab to see lots of my favourite wedding suppliers already listed.
Today I’ve rediscovered Julieann Beads Wedding Jewellery, a Wedding Ideas magazine favourite, and designer of pretty bridal jewellery from Shropshire (although via the Julieann website they ship all over the UK).
Tiararama Couture and Collections Launch
I’ve been excited about this day for months. My favourite bridal hair accessories designer Tiararama has launched its first ever collections — and they’re sooooo beautiful.
I’ve followed Tiararama’s work for years, loving every blog post and facebook update for the unique and intricate tiara designs that would magically appear as designer Suzanne Laughlin created more and more striking designs as part of Tiararama’s couture service.
The press release (on beautifully branded letterheads with a sexy little business card and cd of the new collections — cue squeal from me!) from Tiararama explains the rebranding of Tiararama Couture and the conception of those gorgeous new collections.
Vintage bridal jewellery finds!
Courtesy of the magic of Twitter, I’m happy to show you these gorgeous vintage bridal jewellery pieces from handmade jewellery specialists Frill Designs today.
Frill Designs’ Beth emailed me today to show me the new range, which is called Vintage Unique. Each piece in the collection is created from an original piece of vintage jewellery which is transformed into a Frill design.
How to choose the ideal wedding ring
I’m happy to welcome a guest blogger today: Leigh Maher is an expert on high quality jewellery and I asked for his advice on choosing the perfect wedding ring.
The idea of choosing a timelessly beautiful ring that you’ll wear for the rest of your life is a little daunting… but Leigh has some great advice to share.
How to choose the ideal wedding ring
You will wear your wedding ring every day of your life – in a sense, it will become a part of you, and it will always symbolize your love for your partner. Finding the perfect ring is worth a little time and effort!

Beautiful British jewellery
I’ve been asking on Twitter for favourite wedding supplier recommendations. If you’ve had fantastic service or fallen in love with something you bought for your wedding, let me know!
Louise told me about Boodles, top British jewellers since the 18th century with shops in London, Manchester, Chester, Liverpool and Dublin.
Their website is worth a visit (keep an eye on things moving around while you’re not watching!) and the history is really impressive.
How about this exquisite bracelet for your something blue? Definitely my favourite, although I love the spiderweb collection to bits as well!
