Good morning, beautiful! I hope you’ve had the loveliest of weekends. I taught a really relaxed and fun calligraphy class in Manchester on Friday – the sweetest bunch of students and so talented I was barely needed! Then a weekend at Lancaster music festival… it’s been a fun one, but boy am I sleepy this morning! Today’s wedding though… oh this has brightened my heart already. It’s perfect. Beautiful bride Beth married her handsome hubby Lewis in Wales, styling their day with simple white and green touches – and bridesmaids in trouser suits kicking up a storm!! I just love this and know you will too. Thank you to our wonderful friend and sponsor, Hensol Castle wedding photographer Martin Dabek for sending us such a stunning wedding to share!

Lewis was an usher at his friend’s wedding a few years back and recommended Martin. Lewis is a bit camera shy but said he barely noticed Martin was taking any photos at all. His unobtrusive, in-the-moment approach was exactly what we were looking for.

Our midweek wedding is a blissful, breathtaking, glorious celebration of love at Nottingham’s Carriage Hall. Stephanie and Peter were married in April, which they chose as a time of new beginnings – and the perfect month to start their married life! The lovely couple always knew they wanted a humanist wedding ceremony: “Humanism celebrates the idea that we have one life to lead, so we need to live it in the here and now, that we need to make the most of life’s beauty and riches every day; it focuses on the goodness of humanity and community, family and friends; and the importance of love.

“We worked with a wonderful celebrant, Laurie Cohen, to write a ceremony that was completely unique and personal to us. Working with a Humanist celebrant allowed us to reflect back on our relationship and really think about why we wanted to get married. It was a really lovely process and probably one of the most fun parts of planning the wedding!

The boutique I like to think of as my ‘local’ is Julia Tasker‘s stunning designer wedding dress shop in beautiful Windermere. Julia is a stockist and passionate advocate for Sassi Holford wedding dresses, and through her I have become just as much of a fan. Sassi Holford’s collections always take my breath away, and 2019’s Enchanted Collection is no exception. With Sassi’s signature silhouettes and modern luxury fabrics, this latest launch from one of my absolute favourite designers is as enchanting as it is Enchanted.

Sassi Holford’s captivating 2019 Enchanted Collection is inspired by nature and romance and focuses on texture and light.

Designed to reflect the many facets of the Sassi Holford bride, the collection remains true to classic Sassi Holford tradition – celebrating the female form and enhancing the bride’s unique individuality.

Today’s wedding is one of those stunning celebrations which mixes traditional elegance with contemporary flavour. Laura’s dress is divine – both bride and groom are gorgeous and the little details of their day, especially the Scottish touches, make it something really special. The venue is the Caledonian Club, and the photographer is lovely Ben Pipe Photography.

Our florist was Lalage Barran Flowers. Lalage was introduced to me by St Columba’s Church where we were married. I knew that I wanted lots of flowers and had a good idea of colours, but I know nothing about the types of flowers themselves so Lalage was excellent at guiding me. After a few meetings, she was able to create exactly what I had hoped for. Lalage also made a mock-up of my bouquet for me a few weeks before the wedding day which really helped to reassure me that it would look as I expected on the day.

Timeless wedding style comes from your heart. There’s so much pressure to ‘have’ things for your wedding – and yet, all you really need are the simple things: the two of you, and the things you love. Today’s shoot is beautiful for its simplicity and showcases the loveliest bridal gowns from Julia Tasker‘s Lake District boutique.

Flowers are white; calligraphy graces the walls; the beautiful bride wears the loveliest sparkle and flowers in her hair. Luxury fabrics, elegant lines and gentle sunlight make today’s inspiration simply wonderful.

Betty & Phil’s day stood out from others I covered last year as it seemed to be very simple in its delivery. The bride, the details, the location – all very classic, chic and English garden themed. From the Sassi Holford dress, to the idyllic thatched cottage B&B venue at the foothill of St Catherines chapel. The weather was perfect, the scene was stunning and the spirit of the couple and the people topped it all off.

I love a dress which has a little something different… and I know so many of you do too. But when it comes down to your big day, I know it’s hard to choose a truly alternative wedding dress – and even girls who dress to be different on a normal day can dream of a white wedding, right?

It’s why I adore Leanne by Sassi Holford (from the 2016 Signature Collection). Here’s a dress with sassy style, a flattering shape for every bride, from one of our favourite designers. And yet this dress is guaranteed to turn heads. Its shape, elegance and danceability – because you’ll want to set the dancefloor on fire, right?! – are in a league of their own.

Are you a timeless bride? Do you dream of a classic, full length wedding dress with a beautiful silhouette and the most incredible fabrics? Does it mean a lot to you to buy from a British designer rather than wearing an imported dress? Then today, the English Wedding Blog is just for you.

I’m sharing the 2016 Signature Collection by Sassi Holford with you today. Sassi is one of the leading names in the British wedding industry and her gowns have caused a stir for years… for their inimitable grace and style as well as for their timelessness and beautiful design.

The 2016 Signature Collection will see Sassi Holford dresses on the covers of every bridal magazine. Dresses feature the loveliest duchesse satins alongside soft organza skirts, with lace accents on key pieces.

Every dress in the collection is ultra feminine, with an emphasis on the beauty of the female figure sculpted by bustier detailing and the most exquisite of necklines.

Today I can begin every sentence with ‘So’… and it’ll be fine! I do love seeing dresses by British designers – and this week we have more than one amazing collection to share with you. Today is all about So Sassi: the chic, modern bridal wear brand by top designer Sassi Holford. And the new collection rocks.

So Sassi defines itself as ‘the esprit label’ by Sassi Holford. So Sassi brides are looking for statement dresses with a modern edge – and the 2016 collection is simply divine, blending chic with grace and glamour so every bride can find their perfect gown here.

So Sassi takes the glamour and timelessness of traditional wedding dresses and adds a little… something. I adore the way every dress has a twist to the design: a strong line somewhere, a ribbon or a shape which is as unexpected as it is beautiful. Every single dress is exciting, new and different… and created with the ultimate attention to those incredible details.

Elegance doesn’t have to be opulent: the most beautiful weddings can be those where simple touches are creatively curated to make a pretty, understated but effective style. Recently I featured a very richly styled shoot from Waddesdon Manor – the overall look was pure elegance but some of you felt it was financially unachievable… so today I have something especially for all you looking for elegance on a tighter budget.

Affordable elegance: creating elegant style without the cost

Today’s styled shoot is more about affordable elegance. The secret is to spend on a few key details: the dress, accessories, stationery and a bouquet in this case.

Favours, cakes, cars and other details are optional.

Consider your venue carefully too: Those ‘per head’ costs can be astronomical, and there are so many options these days for alternative reception venues.

I’ve featured several weddings on the blog where couples enquired at a venue which had never held a wedding before… and ended up holding their dream weddings there!

Hello there beautiful! I hope you’re having the loveliest week already – and I have something fabulous to help inspire your day: we’re talking opulence and elegance on the English Wedding Blog this morning.

Today’s stately home wedding shoot takes us to the magnificent Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire. There are designer dresses by Jenny Packham, Sassi Holford and Suzanne Neville, antique furniture and exquisite stationery to inspire those of you planning a stately home wedding – we’re talking lush, big budget styles with a classic flavour.

Styling a stately home wedding is all about working with the venue to create a gorgeous overall look. In today’s shoot Kelly (The Bespoke Wedding Company) did it with flowers, stationery and delicious accessories to complement the elegant surroundings of The White Room, Waddesdon’s newest wedding location.

Whatever your wedding budget, styling and decor can be scaled to fit your pocket: one thing I love about this shoot is its flexibility: Kelly has created floral displays at the end of the aisle, as centrepieces in tall displays and as scaled-down table arrangements with mercury glass. Choose whichever fits your budget best, and your stately home wedding will look beautiful, I promise!
