Kimberley and Francesco’s wedding is wonderfully sophisticated with an Italian twist. I love it when grooms look a little different, and Francesco’s black suit and dickie bow are just wonderful!

Kimberley is so very beautiful – her lacy dress is gorgeous and the details of the day are really pretty and romantic – the soft pinks of the roses, the prettily styled wedding cake… this all adds up to a classic, feminine English wedding – and it’s lovely.

My wedding flowers were soft whites and pinks, mainly roses – they were arranged by Oops a Daisy in Cirencester. They were great as I wasn’t sure what I wanted but they sat with me and showed me the different flowers we could have and how they looked together.

Claire and Nico’s wedding is fabulous – full of pretty homemade touches and all with the help of their wonderful family and friends. The flowers are stunning, the rustic wooden props and accessories look gorgeous!

“Our wedding was the happiest day of our lives… totally perfect! I wanted something really chilled and relaxed, nothing too styled or formal. It was very much a homemade affair styled around the English countryside, relaxed, and shabby chic!

Homemade wedding ideas on the English Wedding Blog with Jennifer Sinclair Photography (11)

Lots of the bits and pieces were homemade. My amazing mum made 180 metres of beautiful bunting, the cake (and not just one – there were so many practice runs that we were all sick of the sight of cake by the time the wedding arrived!), the wedding favours (lovely vanilla fudge) and far too much else to mention. I spend weeks steaming labels off jam jars and covering them in twine, making the table plans by hand and so on…

Matching your wedding style to your venue can be easy when you have a blank canvas (a marquee or a purpose-built venue) but when you’re marrying at a stately home or boutique hotel it’s easy to confuse styles. I always encourage couples to consider the style of their venue when making decisions on wedding decor: a boho look won’t work in a modern hotel, just as a classic wedding dress can look out of place in a field at a festival wedding. Stately homes are our classic venue choice, but how can you make sure your styling options aren’t limited?

My lovely friend and sponsor Jennifer Sinclair Photography styled two shoots at Froyle Park – both with classic dresses to suit any bride, but incorporating a colourful, floral look with a lovely crown for one bride, and with more chic, vintage-inspired styling for the second bridal look. I love them both – and either look works beautifully with a stately home venue like Froyle.

Sam and Amy’s wedding is a pretty, romantic and family-focused affair with the loveliest details and glorious images I know you’ll love! The flowers are out of this world…

Real wedding in Somerset photography by Jennifer Sinclair (19)

We didn’t have a theme as such…. Our key priority was having all the people there who we loved and who had looked out for us. Next it was making sure that we had really good food and drink. We both love cooking…and wine….as do our friends! We wanted our reception to feel like a big family meal, with our friends and family passing food around, chatting and enjoying. We went for a bit of an English-Italian fusion….. local Somerset Salami and buffalo mozzarella, Italian Parmesan, (local) Roast Beef and salads and our favourite wines that remind us of holidays.”

Your wedding doesn’t have to be either modern or vintage – it can be classic, timeless and wonderfully pretty. Choosing roses as your key flower sets the scene for a beautifully feminine wedding – and today’s inspiration shoot from lovely Jennifer Sinclair Photography has delicate pink roses aplenty!

I love the little heads of corn interspersed with the flowers, which really bring the countryside vibe to life. The shoot took place in the stables at Sass & Grace bridal boutique in Winchester, and the dark backdrop is a fabulous contrast with the light, pastel flowers.

The wedding industry is a creative place – full of independent businesses, designers, photographers who inspire me every single day. I love seeing new ideas for wedding styling in the styled shoots we feature here on the English Wedding Blog – but it’s something new for a photographer to reinvent the styled shoot itself… this is such an excellent idea!

Hampshire photographer Jennifer Sinclair and Gemma from Little Star Events were part of a wedding fair at Alton House this spring, and brought creative suppliers and designers together on the day for a styled shoot with some gorgeous bridal (and bridesmaid!) looks for spring.

Jennifer said “Suppliers have taken the time and expense to showcase their products at the wedding fayre so what an amazing opportunity to use those products at the wedding fayre and combine with a styled shoot.  Gemma and I tried this concept at the recent Little Star Events Vintage Wedding Fayre at Alton House and it worked brilliantly!”

Don’t you just love seeing a bouquet full of gorgeous blooms, mixed textures and amazing accent colours? I love seeing different bouquets throughout the year… anemones in spring, peonies in summer, hydrangeas a little later in the year, and roses all year round. Laura’s bouquet was a fabulous talking point and sets the colour and style for a gorgeous wedding full of feminine colours – and not just pink! Here’s how you can copy her look for your own wedding day:

1. Mix and match your flowers

Laura and Simon’s wedding was in February, so her favourite flowers (peonies) were out of season. Instead your florist might use a combination of roses, grape hyacinths, ranunculus, pink tulips and foliage. Don’t be afraid to ask about flowers which are in season – you’ll be surprised how much choice is available all year round, and how wonderfully creative florists can be! Add a brooch and silk ribbon to your bouquet and buttonholes for an added feminine touch.

I don’t think there are words to describe this breathtaking bouquet… and it sets the scene for one of the loveliest weddings of the year. Laura and Simon married at Cripps Barn in February. Despite a little rain on their day, their smiles and laughter have been lighting up my screen all week – I just can’t stop scrolling through their wedding gallery.

“Jennifer took our photos for our wedding at Cripps Barn in Gloucestershire in February 2016 and we can’t recommend her highly enough – book her and you won’t be disappointed! Simon knew Jennifer from working together several years before, and when we started looking for photographers we took a look at her website, loved what we saw and dropped her a line. From the first meeting at our house, we knew we wanted her to take our wedding photos for us. She’s so lovely, chatty and friendly, we were instantly at ease and loved her portfolio and approach.” ~ Laura & Simon

Billed as Surrey’s premier wedding venue, Northbrook Park is a pretty amazing place – and if your budget allows, then it’s a gorgeous location for a classic English wedding. Northbrook has featured on the English Wedding Blog a handful of times, always taking a back seat as we showcase fabulous real weddings… and so today I thought it was time we explored a little more!

Roz & Tom are gorgeous. Their wedding – a perfect winter’s day – is full of special and very personal touches which make it as unique as it is lovely to look at. Roz made candles for every table (yes: made them!) and I love the scrabble place names they had too.

“I was very sentimental about my jewellery and wore pieces I had been given over the years by my mum, brother and girlfriends rather than buying anything new. I also wore my late grandmother’s diamond engagement ring which is just beautiful!”

When I asked Roz what she thought was the best thing about being married, she told me “Feeling more in love with the person you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with and receiving the first piece of post as Mr and Mrs, so exciting!”. I love the idea of sending a lovely handwritten letter to the new Mr & Mrs… what a wonderful little gift it would make! I hear so many opinions about wedding blogs, ranging quite fascinatingly from good to bad to even worse. Blogs are powerful; they can make a wedding business (and in at least one instance, have had the occasion to break one). And their influence on brides and grooms, on wedding trends and even spending habits, is pretty strong.

It’s something I try really hard to be aware of. I try never to push ideas onto readers: styling a wedding and finding suppliers should be all about personal choice. I can share things I love, suggest suppliers I admire, but I’d never say you ‘need’ anything for your wedding which is really only optional.

I love wedding blogs.

I think they’re a harmless dose of pretty, a relaxing and enjoyable read with extra eye candy, and often feature superb advice from real couples alongside expert tips from the loveliest wedding suppliers. They’re a beautiful and helpful place to be!
