Don’t wear a wedding dress. ~ controversial advice maybe, but one of my favourite bits of advice from one of the very best couples we’ve featured on English Wedding in the last year. I love Anna & Ollie because they were brave enough to challenge the normal ‘rules’ of weddings. And rule #1 – if you’re to believe the wedding media – is that you have to wear a wedding dress!

I lose count of the weddings we’ve featured over the year… but I remember something of every single one. A little detail, an image that captures something unique and beautiful, a moment that stops me in my tracks as I scroll. I secretly tag my favourites as we publish them through the year, and save them up to revisit at Christmas time! So over the coming days I will be sharing my favourites from every wedding we featured in 2019.

So you’re about to read our best English Wedding interview ever… along with a gorgeous set of photos from a wedding which absolutely inspires me. These guys are just brilliant: Anna and Ollie’s wedding is perfectly THEM: individual, stylish and relaxed. They had 3 venues throughout the day, taking their party from registry office to foodie heaven to party venue. Venue styling simply wasn’t required: instead the focus was on celebrating their love and entertaining their guests! Likewise, Anna avoided bridal boutiques and found her incredible dress on The Outnet. She looks more than amazing – and  blissfully happy, confident and beautiful!

Have you ever booked a wedding photographer before? Nope – me neither! So it’s tricky to know if you’re asking all the right questions, and to be sure exactly what you need – especially when it comes to timings. Do you need “all day coverage”? Or are you allowed to just book your photographer for a shorter length of time? The standard is for your photographer to capture a few images as you’re getting ready with your girls and best guys, and for him or her to leave just after the first dance. But things are changing… and especially with documentary style photography it’s kind of fun if your photographer can stay a little longer (because seriously, as a couple you’ll be a little self conscious for the first dance… but by the tenth dance you and your besties will ROCK that dance floor, right?!!)
