If you don’t do etiquette in your daily life, there’s really no need to suddenly start doing it in your wedding invitations. Unless you’re the Queen. Have you ever “requested the pleasure of the company of” any of your friends before? No! Because they’d look at you all weird. Now isn’t the time to start… there’s a billion better ways to word your wedding invites!

Gracefully asking your guests to join you on your wedding day is the goal. Your invitations should make your guests smile (not yawn; not skim read to the best bits) and have them looking forward to your big day. Beautiful design goes a long way – and throwing in some personal touches makes any wedding invite unique and special.

Today’s wedding inspiration is dreamily dark and daring – perfect for the occasion! Tonight – if legends are to be believed – the gates to other worlds are opened and spirits can pass between… Also, we get to light candles, dress up and watch a cracking horror. (has anyone seen The Haunting of Bly Manor?) In the meantime… wedding blogs are going to be rather fabulous today so do check them all – I’d like to think lovely Noemi at Thyme Lane Photography has come up trumps with this AMAZING inspiration filled with smoke bombs, dark sparkles and the most incredible styling creations!

I read somewhere this morning that the average age for getting married is now 35 for women and 38 for men – which means plenty of us are tying the knot past the age of 40. Let’s celebrate that today, shall we? I’d love to see more wedding editorial with a wider age range… because this is an absolute BEAUTY of a shoot. As always with lovely Noemi from Thyme Lane Photography, the shoot focuses on the core of what’s important in marriage – and this is right up my street.

Enchanted garden vintage elopement with Thyme Lane Photography (2)

When Noemi (Thyme Lane Photography) emailed me with this earthily beautiful elopement, she had my heart in a few words: “I just don’t think couples need to spend extreme amounts of money and stress a lot about their day, just have a few pretty details and love each other.”

Yes. That. Exactly that. We share every kind of wedding inspiration on blogs, from luxury weddings to intimate celebrations and elopements (and I’m on the lookout for a micro wedding!) but this – this is what makes me personally smile more than anything in the world. A personal celebration of love, a handful of STUNNING images, and some simple, ethical, wonderful details. It’s all you need. I will hand over to lovely Noemi to tell you more!
