Today’s wedding has the most glamorous dress ever, a gorgeous couple and some exquisite details. The reception venue is a highlight: a fabulous party space with tons of character. The cake table is wonderful, the table styling quirky and fun. This is a party spread over several days… and it’s awesome. I think you’re going to love Maddy and Adam’s Cheltenham wedding!

I loved this day. Ever since my first days as a photographer ‘paying her dues’ I have photographed on the steps of Pittville Pump Rooms. Parkfit, fun runs, charity events and Zumba plus numerous family shoots. This park has a special significance to everyone I know in this town.

“All three locations for this wedding felt like home, and the entire day had the atmosphere of being ‘one big happy family’ I love how Maddy and Adam threw tradition to the wind and really did it their way. I am so honoured that they chose me to record their day.”

Caroline and Rob’s wedding is a classic, combining the loveliest of winter styling with a little colour and English charm. Their day at Old Down Manor is elegant and romantic, and I have been looking forward to sharing it with you! I hope you love it as much as I do.

Flowers were by Becci Hobbs at Bijoux Floral Design (http://bijouxfloral.co.uk/). I wanted the flowers to fit in with the overall Winter theme so we had a mixture of pale pinks, silvers and blues with some pine cones. It was beautiful.

“Advice for the groom:
Marry a girl who loves planning – but be prepared to have to take an interest in flower arrangements.
Advice for the bride:
The groom isn’t interested in flower arrangements. He’s only pretending to be because he loves you so much.” ~ Caroline & Rob

Today’s beautiful bride Anouska is an interior designer, and so the styling and details of this winter wonderland wedding are so carefully considered and coordinated… it’s truly magical. From the flowers to the little birds, trees and fairy lights, every little aspect is so personal and charming… winter brides will LOVE seeing today’s wedding.

“I had white, blush pink bouquet with crystals and white thistles. Peonies are my favourite flowers and were out of season, so Sue and Lucy sourced me the most stunning fake silk peonies and added them to my bouquet – nobody knew as they were so realistic and what’s lovely is that I get to keep them forever.” www.suebartonflowers.co.uk

Anouska and Greig’s advice for other couples is something I would emphasise to every bride- and groom-to-be: “Cut down your numbers and spend the money making the day extra special for yourselves and the people you love the most. Put your own stamp on the day – it should be a reflection of who you are and what you love.”

It’s one of those days where outside just isn’t an option so instead of my usual run on the beach I’m snuggled at my desk dreaming of cosy log fires and gorgeous winter weddings… which is kind of lovely!

Words: Amy Hay at Wyck Hill House Hotel and Spa
Wyck Hill House is just beautiful during the winter months.  To sit and enjoy a warming drink in front of a roaring log fire, and look out over the crisp Cotswold countryside is really rather lovely! I wanted to capture a little of this magic in our shoot and create a setting for a truly stunning winter wedding.”

Candles and lots of them were the order of the day.  Paired with stunning floral arrangements and crystal candlebras, they created a gorgeous glow, off-setting the gold colours in our Adams Room.  We hoped to create a glamorous but very cosy and welcoming wedding breakfast room, which I hope was achieved.

If the words on the wedding cake (in scrabble letters) don’t make you feel all squidgy inside, then you’re all wrong. This is so lovely – such a personal wedding day, with some magical moments and creative touches – and a stunning bride and gorgeous groom.

After an elegant ceremony at Asia House, months of planning and lots of hand-made details transformed their reception venue (Icetank) into a shabby chic heaven complete with the wooden chairs, mismatched tablecloths and floral crockery. They’ve traded the traditional first dance for a violin/guitar performance and topped it all up by a flash mob dance surprise performance by the bridal party.

Time for a little Pinterest, I think… as today’s Lake District wedding is so full of beautiful, colourful, gorgeous details and flowers I hardly know where to begin. I adore this day: the venue is one I love (see my review from last year), the bride and groom are stunning, and oh, the flowers… just perfect.

Beautifully rustic wedding style at the Wild Boar with Hayley Baxter Photography on the English Wedding Blog (35)

The Wild Boar has its own very distinctive décor and did not need much help to create a rustic, vintage vibe. The Wild Boar is full of character with low ceiling beams and roaring log fires, so we managed to achieve the relaxed, intimate atmosphere that we wanted quite easily.”

About 1 week before the wedding I emailed every supplier who was attending the wedding to ensure they had the correct date and there were no problems etc. This relaxed me completely and prevented any last minute complications!”

Roz & Tom are gorgeous. Their wedding – a perfect winter’s day – is full of special and very personal touches which make it as unique as it is lovely to look at. Roz made candles for every table (yes: made them!) and I love the scrabble place names they had too.

When I asked Roz what she thought was the best thing about being married, she told me “Feeling more in love with the person you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with and receiving the first piece of post as Mr and Mrs, so exciting!”. I love the idea of sending a lovely handwritten letter to the new Mr & Mrs… what a wonderful little gift it would make! Winter weddings are my favourites. The cosy venues, candlelight and log fires are part of what makes a winter wedding special. I adore the cooler colour palettes and classic accessories winter brides and grooms choose too: all in all, it’s a wonderful time of the year! Gemma and Marc’s Oxfordshire wedding is pure bliss for winter months and I hope you love it as much as I do!

I don’t think I’ve featured unicorns on the English Wedding Blog before… so today is something of an Event. And this wedding is so very lovely – from beginning to end the focus is on colour and happiness, with outstanding images capturing every moment.

Beautiful Nailcote Hall wedding photography by Rob and Sarah Gillespie (41)

Lizzie and Henry did a LOT of research to find their perfect photographers, and chose the brilliant Rob & Sarah Gillespie to capture their day. Other suppliers were found on the internet, and Lizzie used Pinterest to collect ideas which would inject fun and colour into the day. It worked a treat.

I love today’s bride and groom – they are the sweetest couple, obviously totally besotted and the best of friends. Lizzie is gorgeous and chose a dress to suit her personality: as a Game of Thrones fan and definitely not a girly girl (like me!) she went for a style which made her look and feel like a princess… and I think she looks amazing – they both do!

Cliche it may be, but your wedding should be all about YOU! Style your day with the things you both love, and you’ll have happy memories forever. Claire and Christian did an incredible job of making their day really personal – taking things to the next level with their wedding favours (bristlebot, anyone?!) and chose a super Lake District wedding venue which they made their own for the day.

Real wedding at the Wild Boar in Windermere with Jay Emme Photography (12)

I’m so excited to feature this wedding – the room Claire and her girls got ready in is where we stayed back in August! It’s more than lovely and I know they adored the place. Claire is gorgeous and looks amazing all day as she changes from her ivory heels into green wellies and purple Converse… I LOVE a bride with personality!!

The Wild Boar is a venue which needs very little extra wedding decor. Claire and Christian told me, “It’s lovely. Low wooden beams and a little bit higgledy-piggledy! We were keen as far as possible to let it speak for itself. We decorated the tables and the Wild Boar supplied some table vases.”

You’re not going to believe me when I tell you today’s blast of colour comes from a January wedding… but it does. And what better time for a fiesta than the colder months of winter, right? Sam and Siobhan got it spot on, and I have fallen head over heels for their super colourful fiesta wedding.

*no pun intended… see huge hats further down. Sorry! C x

Gorgeous bride Siobhan would definitely recommend a winter wedding as a way to save pennies – and also to be able to spend more on the really important bits of your day. For this lovely couple that meant their photographer and their band – who most certainly made an impression!
