Wedding planning is a journey: one you should take together, and with open minds and hearts, supporting each other the whole way. You will learn heaps of stuff, not just about weddings but about yourselves, your friends and family and the things you love and loathe! It’s really important to maintain a sense of perspective: make time for yourselves and don’t let your wedding rule your lives! But my advice is like fluff in the wind compared to these nuggets of newlywed wisdom from real English Wedding couples. We’re loving the wall of post-it notes, the ‘don’t wing your speech’ tip, and the lessons learned* from things inevitably going a little wrong on the day!
It’s been wonderful revisiting some of the beautiful weddings we featured on English Wedding through 2019 – I hope you’ve enjoyed them too! Today’s is an absolute BEAUTY!! The flowers are out of this world, nestling amongst glass jars and candles to create a wonderfully romantic, English country garden look from daytime to dusk.
Steph and Rob are a gorgeous pair. She’s glorious in Anna Sorrano’s Laurel gown from Wed2B, and he’s so handsome in a micro check navy suit from ASOS. The best thing? These guys are real – two brilliantly happy human beings, just like you and me, beaming with happiness and enjoying their Best. Day. Ever. – and you can just tell they’re SO much in love the photos are a kind of magic.

Happy New Year everyone! We’ve had a wonderful Christmas – but perhaps yours was the best and most exciting EVER?! For all you lovely people who put a ring on it this Christmas, HUGE congratulations! Welcome to the crazy world of weddings!! You’re about to dive into a Pinterest-fuelled, instagram-filled year of weddingy loveliness, swooning over everything from crazy flowers you’ve never heard of to mind-blowing cake design you never even dreamed could be real! And of course – wedding blogs. We’re the FREE version of wedding magazines. Sure, it’s nice to grab a few printed copies of wedding mags from the shops when you first put that engagement ring on your finger – but trust me, wedding blogs are the BEST source of inspiration and ideas for your day. And you don’t have to pay a penny to read them!
Don’t wear a wedding dress. ~ controversial advice maybe, but one of my favourite bits of advice from one of the very best couples we’ve featured on English Wedding in the last year. I love Anna & Ollie because they were brave enough to challenge the normal ‘rules’ of weddings. And rule #1 – if you’re to believe the wedding media – is that you have to wear a wedding dress!
A very wise bride once said wedding planning isn’t about saving money, it’s about spending it wisely! And in life as well as weddings, I’m a huge advocate of less is more: choose quality over quantity, and whether that means focusing your styling touches on one aspect or one area, or just making your wedding the party of a lifetime, that focus will help you through! Save where you can, but remember you get what you pay for – and sometimes it’s important to spend a little more for a quality supplier, a brilliant photographer or an exceptional wedding planner. But what do I know, right? Our wonderful English Wedding couples are back with some brilliant tips to help you spend your wedding budget wisely, based on their own experiences (and a hefty dollop of hindsight!)
