Seeing all of your table plans fascinates me: I’ve already decided I’d be on the Prodigy table for this one… although the choice is fantastic! Nonetheless today’s is a celebration where music really mattered, and it sounds as though the band playing at Stacey and Roger’s festival wedding outshone any of the famous names on the table plan! Today’s is a fab theme, and a gorgeous autumn wedding: I hope you love it as much as I do!

Carol blended in with the wedding guests and captured fantastic photos of them all enjoying the day. Although the posed and group shots are beautiful and just what we wanted, some of our favourites are those where people are blissfully unaware of her presence! She captured so many magical moments that we missed throughout the day.”

“We found the vinyl templates online and made everything else ourselves. It took a bit of time but the end results were definitely worth it as our guests commented that they’d not seen anything like it before!”

Time for a little Pinterest, I think… as today’s Lake District wedding is so full of beautiful, colourful, gorgeous details and flowers I hardly know where to begin. I adore this day: the venue is one I love (see my review from last year), the bride and groom are stunning, and oh, the flowers… just perfect.

The Wild Boar has its own very distinctive décor and did not need much help to create a rustic, vintage vibe. The Wild Boar is full of character with low ceiling beams and roaring log fires, so we managed to achieve the relaxed, intimate atmosphere that we wanted quite easily.”

About 1 week before the wedding I emailed every supplier who was attending the wedding to ensure they had the correct date and there were no problems etc. This relaxed me completely and prevented any last minute complications!”

Not everyone dreams of being a princess. I never have; and if I’m honest the classic bridal style isn’t for me. I love dresses which are different, creative, and which make a real impression. A dress has to have ‘wow’ as well as being beautiful. And in an ideal world, a dress has to have a story behind it. Enter the awesome Legend Bridal Designs along with an impressive cast of north west wedding suppliers for today’s alternative styled shoot…

I’m a little obsessed with Game of Thrones. I was excited to hear that the girls at Legend Bridal Designs have recently created custom wedding gowns for brides who love the series and found the inspiration for their day there. Legend are bespoke dressmakers with a very different kind of bridal shop – their dresses are out of this world. I was over the moon to see this magical, unique bridal shoot featuring their gorgeous designs. Images are by lovely Tiree Dawson Photography.

The decoration was all low key, we hung lanterns in the marquee along with wooden hearts but we wanted to keep the decoration to a minimum. Elvey Farm has its own florist, a wonderful lady called Lesley Masters. I gave Lesley some rough ideas and asked for everything to appear natural like it had just been picked from the garden and she came up with the beautiful creations.

“I was delighted with the photography from our wedding. Fiona managed to capture the day perfectly and really reflected the country feel we tried to create. The candid photos of family and friends laughing during the speeches were wonderful.

“We weren’t planning a traditional white wedding so didn’t want the typical group photos”,  Robyn told me. It’s something I’d never thought of before: formal group shots are so laden with tradition… but really, is that how we even do photography these days? Perhaps there’s a better alternative for you as well, than the half hour (or more!) of ushers dashing around gathering up relatives to stand in a variety of lines?! (And you can read more about traditions and how to break old fashioned wedding rules in the FREE English Wedding Book, if you haven’t already read it.) But today we’re all about gorgeous couple Robyn & Matt…

This brought tears to my eyes – “When you know, you know. I would have married him in a binbag with no guests and been as proud to be his wife as I am now. Fiona said to me once that “love is as easy as putting socks on” and that is my advice: Marry someone who is easy to love.” ~ Robyn.

Roz & Tom are gorgeous. Their wedding – a perfect winter’s day – is full of special and very personal touches which make it as unique as it is lovely to look at. Roz made candles for every table (yes: made them!) and I love the scrabble place names they had too.

“I was very sentimental about my jewellery and wore pieces I had been given over the years by my mum, brother and girlfriends rather than buying anything new. I also wore my late grandmother’s diamond engagement ring which is just beautiful!”

When I asked Roz what she thought was the best thing about being married, she told me “Feeling more in love with the person you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with and receiving the first piece of post as Mr and Mrs, so exciting!”. I love the idea of sending a lovely handwritten letter to the new Mr & Mrs… what a wonderful little gift it would make! The first thing I noticed about Hannah was her smile: that beautiful, overjoyed, beaming smile – it’s how every bride should look on her wedding day. She’s stunning.

One thing that really marks a wedding for me is the menswear: as a wedding blogger it’s something I look out for even more than the dress. You just know when the guys are wearing something a little more interesting than hired suits, it’s going to be an amazing wedding. Beverley & Jackson – your day is the perfect, gorgeous, brilliant example of the kind of celebration I love!

Real wedding at Gaynes Park with Clare Butler Photography (17)

Today’s stunning bride & groom married at Gaynes Park, Essex. “The venue is so beautiful that it didn’t need much decoration at all. We chose to have some festoon lighting in the barn, which turned out to be a great decision as when we sat down to eat the heavens opened, so the lighting made the room feel cosy and intimate.”

They saved money on flowers: “The biggest saving we made was through our choice of dried flowers. Dried flowers are much cheaper than fresh and it also meant that we could make up the arrangements ourselves.”

This is the most festival-like wedding I’ve ever seen… and it’s perfect. I wonder sometimes if weddings are a little too formal for everyone: even when a wedding is styled to look like a festival, I think often it still feels more like a wedding – but today, the focus is well and truly on fun, and music, and really the decor and styling is only a tiny part of things. Phil and Elizabeth fell in love, married, and had the celebration of a lifetime. And it’s AMAZING.

The gorgeous couple describe their day as a “Fun, relaxed, unique, non-traditional, outdoor wedding. We didn’t have a theme but it was outdoor & relaxed, almost like a festival. We used yellow and grey where we could but weren’t too worried about that.We had done the legal ceremony in a registry office 2 days earlier, but we had a Celebrant and did the whole ceremony and to us this one was the ‘real’ ceremony.”

Chris and Emily styled their Sussex wedding beautifully. They chose a venue which fitted the relaxed wedding style they wanted to have, and the simple and impactful fairy light and lantern decor makes it fun, pretty and welcoming!

Emily is absolutely gorgeous. Despite being a tomboy at heart, she told me, “I really surprised myself by finally choosing a fit and flare dress, it really stood out to me as the delicate ivory lace had a modern feel and it was offset against a light gold satin which gave it a vintage feel. I took it to a seamstress to make some alterations so my dress is one of a kind and I felt like a million dollars on the day.”

Emily saved money by buying a sample wedding dress that was about to be discontinued. “It needed a few minor repairs due to being tried on in the shop but even with these it was half the price of having one custom made.

It’s perfectly possible to make any theme look amazing: Katrina and Pete’s “twist of Harry Potter” wedding knocked me for six when I saw their gorgeous, vintage-inspired hanging table names. Wow. This is a wedding I KNOW you’ll love.

“The table plan was old keys that I bought and attached little butterfly wings to each one. We hung them on fishing line and attached them to a tree where we had the welcome drinks. They were supposed to resemble the flying keys from the first harry potter book. The effect was awesome and everyone took them home as a keepsake.”

“The best thing about being married is once everything settles down it becomes ‘normal’. That sounds bad. But actually once all the wedding bubble has gone you get to be just you two again and work towards all those promises you made on your wedding day. Normal for me means meant to be, and we are more in love than ever.”

Today’s fabulously beautiful wedding is going to be a favourite for 2016 – I can see it now. The handcrafted touches are wonderful, and I am SO impressed with gorgeous bride Laura’s lettering and wedding signs! (I’m teaching a calligraphy workshop today and seeing people learn to write like this is one of my favourite things!)

Chris and Laura planned their wedding over 2 years: “Having such a long time to plan the wedding had its pros and cons. We had time to source amazing suppliers and spend hours swooning over gorgeous weddings. However, I did get slightly overwhelmed with the sheer volume of wonderful ideas out there.”

The flowers are another huge highlight of the day:I spent a long time searching the internet for a local florist that created wedding flowers that had a bohemian, unstructured feel to them. Helen from The Flower Mill completely saw my vision for the flowers. They just pulled everything together and were definitely the focal point we were looking for!”
