Who doesn’t love Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? That iconic car from a bygone age? Who wouldn’t want to be taken to their wedding in classic Victorian style? Why not embrace the glamour and opulence of the Victorian aristocracy?

Our 1908 original Thornycroft vintage car was our inspiration for our styled shoot. From its dark wooden dashboard, deep mahogany leather upholstery to the sleek lines and glistening brasswear, this car sums up Victorian elegance.

We wanted to incorporate the rich tones of the car within the deep colours displayed in the flowers & foliage, gold leafed fruit and plenty of soft candlelight. Autumn played a large part in our shoot, embracing all the season has to offer; blood red & vintage golden roses, deep burnt colour leaves from the Cotinus and Amaranthus, to the blackberries from the hedgerows.

Oversized bouquets were very on trend in 2020 and were even more so in the Victorian era: asymmetrical, loose and trailing, the bigger the better!

We designed a hanging ‘cloud’ to add a modern element to the table setting, focusing on the married couple on their sweetheart table, this was filled with deep red foliage and eucalyptus berries.

We scoured antique shops for preloved Victorian furniture, gold plated cutlery & china, elegant crystal champagne and wine goblets and mismatched brass candlesticks. Our aim, to promote being eco and budget friendly, to not discard any item, but to give it new life. The excitement of designing your own wedding tablescape, building the scene and styling, incorporating each treasured find adds to the ownership. Your ideas, your hard work, your vision.

We wanted to create an inspirational Victorian inspired styled shoot featuring ultra-feminine, elegant, timeless, incredibly dreamy dresses. In order to create this breathtaking concept our team drew inspiration from the Victorian era. Victorian bridal embraced fashion bloomed during this time, however, towards the end of the era, the fashion became more relaxed, romantic and feminine. The concept of this shoot took beautiful influences from the Victorian style to a modern wedding, creating an extraordinary, timeless and elegant wedding that will leave you delightfully charmed.

The dresses our ‘brides’ wore were from UK designers, Mia Mia, Phoenix Gowns, Stella York, emphasising the Victorian vibe with beautiful laces and silks and subtle shades of ivory and antique grey. The carefully selected accessories where the perfect compliment and finishing touches to this amazing look.

Whilst adhering to the classic vintage theme so carefully created and to compliment the eloquent lacey gowns and bold floral displays the vintage inspired updo’s truly complimented our models’ attire. Noting the curls, waves and rolls of this wonderful era but accompanying these styles with a modern edge Danielle managed to create a look that stands out from the crowd whilst incorporating the beautiful accessories meticulously chosen to complete the look.

Inspiration for the make up was taken from the signature flawless skin and rosy cheeks. However, rather than pinching the cheeks as the Victorians would have done to achieve a rosy glow, Laura used a combination of crème and powder blushers from Illamasqa, which are vegan and cruelty free products. Laura prepared the models’ skin using beautiful hydrating mineral veil, primer and skin base foundation, again from Illamasqa to achieve a warm modern glow.
