If you love travelling and exploring the world, then why not have the wedding of your dreams and choose between the most romantic destinations in Europe – Italy and France.
When you choose a unique wedding venue in France or Italy, you will have truly unforgettable memories. At Scarlet, we have been fortunate to have organised some of the most incredible weddings in both destinations. Here are some of the venues we recommend:
Wedding Venues near Paris, France
Regarded widely as the city of love, Paris is one of the most romantic cities in the world, making it a truly spectacular destination for your wedding or honeymoon. A popular location for couples from around the world, newlyweds flock to the City of Love for photos, before dancing the night away in one of the many beautiful French Châteaux the city has to offer.
Chateau de Chantilly
Hidden away in the quiet village of Chantilly, 30km from Paris, you’ll find Château de Chantilly. Verdant countryside and glittering lakes surround this stunning 16th-century French chateau that echoes the incredible Belle-Époque period. With towering ceilings, gold gilding and vitrines of art gracing the walls, Château de Chantilly looks like it’s been pulled from a fairy-tale and brought to life.
Palace of Versailles
Just a half hour drive from the centre of Paris sits the most incredible 17th century Château that was built during King Louis XIV – the Palais of Versailles. Steeped in some of France’s most important history, this iconic wedding venue was once home to the ruling members of France’s monarchy.
Hosting only a small handful of weddings celebrations each year, the Palace of Versailles is a truly exclusive wedding venue. The interior design of this grand palace features intricate paintings, invaluable sculptures and incredible furnishings.
Vaux le Vicomte
For those looking for a stunning Château in a picturesque village, one hour southeast of Paris is the incredible Château Vaux-le-Vicomte. This 15th-century château is surrounded by intricately landscaped gardens, calming rivers and tranquil woodlands.
Should you desire, you can choose to have an outdoor wedding in the formal gardens of Vaux le Vicomte and you and your guests can dine al-fresco. If you’d prefer an indoor wedding, the impressive Grand Salon holds 200 seated. In the evenings, the grand staircase and gardens are lined with flickering candles, creating a truly spectacular backdrop for your wedding or party.
Wedding Venues in Italy
Italy is a country immersed in love and is perhaps one of those most passionate and romantic countries in the world. This breathtaking land was once the backdrop of one of the greatest love stories of all time, Romeo and Juliet, and is home to some of the most extraordinary wedding venues in Euope. With plenty of picturesque locations across the country such as Tuscany, Rome and Venice – there are also plenty of photo opportunities, whether it is for your engagement or wedding photos.
Villa Medici, Rome
Villa Medici is one of the most exclusive wedding venues in the world, with only two weddings held a year at this majestic villa. It was built during the renaissance for Cardinal Ricci da Montepulcian and was acquired by Napoleon for the French Academy in 1803.
Should you want to choose this incredible venue for your wedding, special permission must first be granted by the French Academy as well as a cheque of over €100,000 for the venue alone. If you’ve always dreamed of an outdoor wedding during the summer months, when you choose Villa Medici, a bespoke glass marquee can be built in the courtyard. For indoor weddings, the nearby Waldorf Astoria Rome Cavalieri is the ultimate in luxury.
Villa d’Este, Lake Como
On the shore of Lake Como sits Villa d’Este, a truly magnificent Italian villa. This villa has housed plenty of celebrities, from the Duke and Duchess of Windsor to many others as well as being the venue of choice for Emily Blunt and John Krasinski’s wedding.
With rooms hosting up to 200 people, Villa d’Este is suited for medium to large wedding parties. Crystal chandeliers cascade from high ceilings, and the floor to ceiling windows offer a panoramic view of the breathtaking gardens and lakes. The service at Villa d’Este is second-to-none and staff will go above and beyond to ensure that your guests have the time of their lives.
Villa Erba
A wedding venue favoured by Hollywood’s elite, Villa Erba is the epitome of Italian luxury. This 19th-century villa sits on the edge of Lake Como and was the backdrop for Anastasia’s live tour, the Ocean’s Twelve film and so much more.
Have your ceremony outside, with the gazebo built on the lake, before dining in the grand atrium and dancing the night away in the most incredible Italian villa.
Four Seasons, Florence
Set in the heart of Florence and steeped in rich history, the Four Seasons Hotel Florence is one of the most sought-after luxury wedding venues in Italy. It’s incredible design, exceptional service and immaculate gardens make it the perfect destination for your Florence wedding.
Why not build your own glass house to host your wedding on the Tempio Lawn, seating up to 400 of your guests. The party doesn’t end there, host an after-party in the former covent and dance late into the night.
