Wedding styling for 2020 at Chelsea Old Town Hall
Hey lovelies! I hope you’re staying cosy and warm today, wherever you are – it’s a chilly one for sure! Today we have a venue showcase for all of you London brides and grooms – wedding suppliers at Chelsea Old Town Hall poured their hearts and souls into creating a beautiful wedding atmosphere – and transformed for the evening with the flick of a switch!
The Chelsea Old Town Hall is a grade II listed, iconic building located in the heart of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, so we were excited to style one of the versatile rooms in this historic building; especially as they’d just undergone an eleven month renovation.
When we first viewed the Small Hall, we were impressed by the high ceilings and the Victorian sash windows which beautifully captured the natural light. The ornate cornicing and dramatic chandeliers added to the grandeur of the room, so it already possessed its own unique style which we really wanted to complement. We decided to enhance the innate beauty of the Small Hall by keeping to the colour scheme of green and white with gold accents. We brought nature inside by framing the natural light with a large foliage arch embellished with gypsophila, created by Petals Event Styling. We loved the flexibility of the space and endeavoured to include both a ceremony space in addition to reception and dancefloor areas. The eye-catching feature of the arch really gave a strong focal point, wherever you were situated in the hall.
The richly decorated marble fireplace provided a suitable backdrop for the sweetheart table, adorned with an arrangement by Gray and Greenery of textured foliage dotted with avalanche roses, white lisianthus and wax flowers; trailing down to meet the edge of the shiny white gloss dancefloor (courtesy of GoodWorks Entertainment).
Towards the back of the room, a stand out feature was the uniquely shaped alcove ornamented with gold, which provided the perfect backdrop for the classic five tier wedding cake, decorated by Buttermilks Cakes which featured white roses and hydrangeas. All of the suppliers worked exceedingly hard to show the possibilities that could be achieved and the caterers were second to none in delivering a range of delightful edibles that any couple would be proud to present to their guests.
The tables were tastefully dressed and featured purple accents, providing a simple yet effective pop of colour that was also reflected in the arch and floral arrangements. As these days many brides love personalisation, working with The Champagne and Gift Company was great, as they provided us with bespoke labelled bottles in various sizes that was a nice, fun touch for each of the tables.
As we already had such an impressive starting point, it was really easy to achieve a great final look. Each feature was thoughtfully placed simply to enhance the elegance and beauty of the room, thereby creating a regal setting for any expectant bride and groom.
What excites me as a planner is the possibility of doing two looks in one setting, so in addition to creating a multi-purpose space, we were really excited by the evening look we were able to achieve by changing the lighting colour scheme to purple. In one simple move, it created a stunning effect and again transformed the space, creating the perfect ambiance for the first dance or an outfit change entrance, for example.
We were really proud to be able to transform one of London’s most iconic venues within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, as the venue was really accommodating and the end result was phenomenal.
