Romance by the Riverside – boho wedding style ideas from Stockmans Meadows in Cambridgeshire
Good morning, lovelies! I’m officially back at my blogging desk after a week in Venice, and VERY excited for the week ahead. We’ve some stunning weddings and ideas to share with you, and my inbox is bursting with submissions (I have 331 emails eeek) so it’s going to be a busy and beautiful week! Let’s kick things off with a fabulous wedding photoshoot from lovely Lorna Newman Photography, from a new wedding venue in Cambridgeshire. I hope you love this as much as I do!
A team of amazing suppliers came together for this inspired shoot mainly to showcase a beautiful new venue called Stockmans Meadows, in Cambridgeshire. The venue is set alongside a river (they even have a boat). It has a cute boho feel and is super romantic so our concept for the shoot was “Romance by the Riverside’. We wanted to showcase the venue, as well as all the very talented suppliers work that was involved.
The venue is surrounded by beautiful foliage, wild flowers, moss and willow trees, so we wanted to show couples how they could incorporate this into their wedding by dressing the tables, flowers, and details to match. It looks so romantic and suits the venue’s style perfectly with a rustic natural feel.
Stockmans Meadow was founded in 2017 by sisters Emily, Daisy and Molly. After spending the last 6 years transforming The Three Pickerels hotel, restaurant and pub, they accomplished their dream and created an idyllic riverside wedding venue in Mepal, Cambridgeshire. The venue offers everything you could need for a special wedding day with a gorgeous marquee, a beautifully crafted outdoor container bar and a unique decking area set over the picturesque river. The sisters created the space inspired by the natural surroundings, the main one being The New Bedford River that sits alongside the venue with gorgeous overhanging willow trees and occasional wildlife. Adjacent there is acres of meadowland, often frequented by roaming cattle and horses, providing the perfect bohemian backdrop for photos.
Last year, the property next door came up for sale and the sisters decided to invest as an opportunity to develop the business. The property is full of character and charm and dates back to 1756. Back in the day it was originally a cattle farm then later a grain store. The outbuildings of the property have been standing for over 200 years, there is an original door on the grounds that once linked the yard to trade on the river. The sisters hope to transform the property into a luxury wedding destination and to keep the history alive.
