Belle & Bunty – the London bridal label for sassy brides!

I stumbled across Belle & Bunty‘s instagram the other day: a haven for sassy brides looking to avoid the ‘delicate flower’ bridal style and embrace something more relaxed and fashion-aware: dare I say ballsy?
Put it this way: There’s absolutely no reason why you can’t find a wedding outfit that feels like YOU. No need to change your style because the wedding industry wants you in a corseted bodice / trailing gown / fitted white lace wotsit. And if you’re also looking for an eco-aware brand with genuine ethics and a commitment to sustainability, girl you are in the right place! Belle & Bunty’s gorgeous dresses can even be made in vegan fabrics… which ticks every little box for me.
Inspired by country glamour and the Nashville, Tennessee music scene, Belle & Bunty’s ‘Islands in the Stream’ is the latest collection by design duo Belle & Bunty. From its humble roots around the campfire to the glitz and glamour of its biggest stars performing at the iconic Grand Ol Opry country music venue, this collection pays homage to those heartfelt love songs that beckon the great outdoors and the powerful independent women that wander across them.
‘Islands in the Stream’ sees the designers bring to life their most dazzling and embellished collection to date; think shear dresses dripping in translucent sequins, dainty floral lace and plunging backs crafted with sumptuous crepe back satin. Highlights from the collection include: the Evelyn Dress created with shimmering sequins over a double layered satin under dress. The signature godets in a sheer tulle make this a dreamy and luminous piece. From its demure neckline and delicate button details to its plunging seductive back, the effortlessly chic and sophisticated Thelma blouse is a ladylike and scandalous all-in-one. The Cassidy Dress epitomises femininity with its soft capped sleeves and delicate flower field lace, complete with a warm cream satin mid layer that glimmers through the ivory filigree lace.
Hannah & Alice, Belle & Bunty Creative Directors:
‘We wanted the style of the shoot to look and feel like the model meant business. We feel this is particularly important in the current climate and would give our collection a ballsy point of difference. Bridal seems to be littered with imagery of whimsey and fragility but this season, we want our message to mirror that of our brides: strong, fun and natural.
Our aim was to set the glitz of the new collection against the beautiful rustic countryside with tumbling fields, horses, stables and ominous skies as a back drop. The Belle & Bunty bride takes her party with her where ever she may roam, exuding confidence, strength and downright sass with her wedding dress.’
The brides that we make dresses for have one thing in common for their wedding: this is a celebration. With the 2019 collection we really wanted to put the focus on the spirit of independence and confidence of the bride, combined with the magic and sparkle of the celebration itself.
The cowgirls that are at one with nature with an untamable spirit are our muses. If these boots are made for walking, then these dresses are made for dancing!’
Our Social Promise:
The Make – Our collection is manufactured solely in the UK using skilled British tailors and seamstresses to create our dresses. Our workshops and boutique are located in London so we keep our foot print as low as possible and we buy all our fabrics from UK suppliers. Our dresses are Made to Order therefore we hold no stock- we only make dresses when there are orders – this keeps our wastage low and our fabric consumption economical. We use only pure silk for our dresses. We use pure silk linings too which make sure you feel as cool as you look.
We are also proud to be able to offer the majority of our dresses in Vegan fabrics.
