We believe in a thing called love: A British Fete Inspired Same Sex Styled Shoot

This shoot celebrates two fierce females, who want their union to be bursting with colour and fun. Their wedding is a contrast to identikit muted colour palettes and shuns traditional elements that we have come to expect with weddings; it’s a call out to brides and grooms (and everybody in between) who are looking for inspiration for an against the grain wedding, in both spirit and design detail. Truly authentic direction and photography style ensured that people could look at these images and relate with meaning to the story behind them.
Coming up with the concept was easy, as it’s all the things that we love the most; golden hour dancing, lots of flowers and bright colours. Our brief to suppliers focused on a fresh take on an English vintage summer fete vibe, with some glitter and nostalgia thrown in!
Liberty and Zoe, our anti-brides for the day got married’ at the Old Kent Barn, a beautiful space hidden in lush Kent countryside. We loved the barn area and green spaces for the quintessentially British fete vibe and the Barn’s high ceilings and big windows were enhanced by our location stylist Locate to Create. The ceremony area was adorned with rainbow ribbons, a glitter wall and the aisle created with rugs and lined with coloured candles and vases; which our incredible florist Corrina filled with her ethically, home-grown, seasonal flowers. Our couple walked each other down the aisle, wearing soft, fun, yet dramatic dresses with intricate details chosen by Jeska; who stocks luxury gowns with a difference at her boutique. Corrina also created incredible flower crowns for our brides, which sat perfectly on top of an undone braided style for Liberty and softly waved locks for Zoe. Our page boy and girl, the little dogs Gwen Stefani and Digby also sported flowers around their collars! The different tones of the bride’s crowns were reflected in the colours of their lipstick, and matched with a warm colour palette, fluffy defined brows and dewy skin.
Our beautiful brides amped up the glamour for the evening, changing into heavily embellished gowns and matching biker jackets from Jeska’s collection. We added glitter and stars to their makeup and enhanced the relaxed vibe with hair worn loose in tousled waves.
Inside, guests snacked from a giant pink sprinkle doughnut tower and sat at sparkly tables with Curly Wurlys and Wham Bars as favours, providing some true nostalgia. Outside, guests created their own headpieces to match the brides at the DIY flower crown bar, played vintage lawn games and chatted in the tipi chill out area. When they got peckish they could grab a cone of popcorn or a cloud of candy floss and gather at the outdoor seating area, complete with rugs and coloured candles, perfectly reflecting the ceremony area.
