A venue to inspire the most elegant of weddings – wedding styling tips from 10 Castle Street, with Linus Moran Photography
Tucked away on the edge of the beautiful village of Cranborne in Dorset, set back far enough from the road that it becomes a treasure, a beguiling location, is 10 Castle Street. The name is wonderfully deceiving – while there’s definitely a Castle Street running through the village, and the venue’s driveway leads from it, this is no run-of-the-mill residence. Number 10 Castle Street is a fabulously quirky and charismatic wedding venue, available for wedding hire and perfectly suited to an eclectic, elegant modern wedding.
Our lovely friend and English Wedding team member Linus Moran is a Dorset wedding photographer, perfectly placed to capture real weddings at 10 Castle Street. Today’s photoshoot shows – in glorious images – how a historic and enchanting venue like 10 Castle Street can inspire your wedding style. Linus brought this wedding photoshoot to life with fellow Dorset suppliers The Rose On The Cake, Sass & Grace, and West Dorset Wedding Flowers.

“The elegant colonial style that 10 Castle Street enbodies is a gift to a florist, and I jumped at the opportunity to be involved in this shoot. The colour palette that I chose had to be equally classy, and so – after a visit to the venue for inspiration – I decided to supply two colourways. The first was as monochrome as you can get in nature really, combining blacks and silvers with a slight hint of palest blush; I mixed ‘Mentha’ roses with silvery eleagnus foliage, perfumed ozomanthus, and striking black and white proteas to give a slightly tropical feel. The bouquet style was very loose with lateral lines and an ethereal feel.
The second colour palette was inspired by the warm gold tones used in a number of the reception rooms at the Hotel; ‘Golden Mustard’ and ‘Emily Woodhouse’ garden roses were mixed with golden peonies, bold globe artichokes and plenty of palm and fern foliage to continue the tropical feel and also to mirror the palm plants found all around the venue. Flowering jasmine, aquilegia and grasses were then used to soften the look. This second bouquet had a flowing feel to it, whilst maintaining a sense of mystery and class. I really feel that all the supplier’s contributions worked effortlessly together to capture the quirky charisma that 10 Castle Street embodies, captured so expertly by Linus Moran.” – Jessie from West Dorset Wedding Flowers
“The wedding cake design was wholly inspired by the wonderful decor at 10 Castle street. The handcrafted dragonfly being its main feature, I replicated from a framed dragonfly at this stunning venue. The paintwork was also inspired by the exotic decor. This cake design demonstrates that imagination is limitless when it comes to personalising a bespoke wedding cake. – Louise from The Rose on the Cake
The dress we chose for this shoot is called Brazilia and is by our French designer Cymbeline. This is a stunning a-line dress delicately decorated with satin flowers which cascade down the train, a complete show stopper! – Sam Walsh, Sass & Grace bridal boutique
