English orchard wedding style editorial, with Rocks and Frocks & Emily Little Photography
Happy Monday lovelies! I hope you’ve had the most wonderful weekend. Today we have so much inspiration for you – I like to kick off the week with something really stunning to inspire you, and today it’s extra special… with a lovely team of wedding creatives showing you how to make the most of an outdoor space with fabulous florals and elegant styling – without breaking the bank! Flower walls have been a huge trend, but can be ridiculously expensive. Today we share an incredibly creative alternative – look carefully at the backdrop! Lovely Vanessa, wedding planner from English Wedding Directory members Rocks & Frocks, shares her inspiration with you.
We wanted to provide couples marrying at this intimate new venue and others like it ideas on how they can step outside of dressing and decorating the normal spaces of marquees and tipis by looking at and dressing the orchard space itself! Without a marquee or tipi in sight we have showcased how to turn what is essentially a boundary conifer hedge into a beautiful ceremonial backdrop with floristry that appears to simply grow out of the background. We used the orchard itself as an intimate dining area complete with romantic lighting. We hope we can broaden couples’ ideas and ignite the imagination by showing how a venue space could work for you, and to showcase an orchard environment with its natural aisles and beautiful blossom as a romantic location for an intimate wedding ceremony.
May is our favourite wedding month and we wanted to catch the romance of the white and pink blossom on the trees in the orchard along with the beautiful elegance of English peonies and roses. The colour palette was chosen as a compliment to the blossom and was a combination of soft and bold colours with on trend blush pinks as the main colour and the rich reds as a pop of colour to the ceremony backdrop complimenting and contrasting the bouquet.
We wanted to keep styling to a minimum and to enhance what our iconic English garden orchard had provided us, utilising the trees as much as possible and the conifer hedge that is the natural boundary as a ceremony backdrop, placing the flowers directly into this rather than bringing in an alternative structure.
Our aim was to use up-cycled items to show that it’s not all about buying new ‘never to be used again’ for a wedding but to look at your surroundings and see what you have that can fit in. We used furniture that was made of natural materials ie wood as a nod to the orchard surroundings.
We tied the concept together with a definitive style and look using peonies in the bouquet and ceremony backdrop which we continued through to the stationery and hand painted decoration on the cake. Overall we have created what we believe is both quintessentially English, modern and stylish with a host of ideas to showcase the best of what outdoor weddings have to offer!
