Hey lovelies! I hope you’ve had a fantastic weekend. Before I launch into today’s post I wanted to share a little update I made to the blog last night. The ‘Recommended’ section of our navigation menu has had a little spruce up to make it simpler for you to find those amazing suppliers we love most of all. If you hover over the menu today you’ll see a list of categories and then a list of all those recommended suppliers for you to discover more. Clicking will bring you to a page with ALL of a supplier’s English Wedding Blog features. Try it! Find Photographers –> Oobaloos (see how their county is included too?) and browse through all of Sheryl’s gorgeous features from the last few months! Aren’t they lovely? Speaking of which…

Today’s autumnal wedding styling feature is perhaps a wee bit early. But it’s a little cold and rainy today, so I’m almost feeling autumnal and looking forward to sharing weddings from nature’s most vibrant season. I wanted to take a peek at something from last year with you – this will inspire all of you autumn brides and grooms and I hope you love our ideas for autumn weddings!

1. Be bold with colours

Autumn is fiery, exciting and brings out the very best of nature’s glory. So whether you choose a rusty, glowing autumnal palette or something a little different, go for bold, statement colours in your bouquet and table styling.

I love the mixtures of red and soft greens in today’s bouquet. They’re not traditional autumn colours but they have such warmth and character for the cooler months of the year.

The wedding cake has soft golds and sequins around the top tier which glow gently in the autumn sun. I love this – metallics are huge for 2017 & 2018 so consider touches of gold leaf where you can to brighten even the gloomiest of autumn days.

2. Be brave with statement florals

Delicate daisies and (dare we even mention gyp) are done. Autumn flowers are big, bold and colourful. Dahlias are a huge personal fave of mine, but there are surprises out there too. A couple of imported proteas can make a simple bouquet absolutely stunning. Look for rich dahlias in any colour, and team up with big rose heads and soft leaves. Astilbe is a stunning flower which adds texture to arrangements in the prettiest way.

3. Choose eye-catching fashion and accessories

An autumn bride isn’t afraid to sparkle and make an entrance! A little sparkle will catch the early evening sunlight beautifully. Low sunshine through the day reflects beautifully from a gown with tiny catchlights in subtle crystals and shine. Or choose a graceful, minimal gown and team with statement accessories. We adore this branch necklace from Beards – perfect for an autumn wedding!

4. Use texture for interest and accents

Autumn really draws our attention to nature and your autumn wedding can make the best of the inspiration around you. Choose branches, wood and even feathers to add texture to your table styling and venue decor. Pine cones are a little clichÊ, but conkers would make amazing favours for playful wedding guests!

5. More ideas for styling your autumn wedding

The handmade truffles from OMmaZing Chocolates sit so prettily on place settings at Upcote Barn, don’t you think? (And I’ve tried them – they’re so, SO good!) Little touches like this can add so much to your guests’ experience and the look of your day.

Laser cut accessories look really striking – I can’t take my eyes off the peacock feather Hollie from Daisy Says I Do used in the table styling today. The chair signs are another simple little touch which will look gorgeous on the big day.

If you love vintage, choose genuine pieces like the faded brass candlesticks and vases shown here. Fake plastic birdcages are out; true vintage finds will make your autumn wedding tables the prettiest they can be!
