Opulent English Rose wedding inspo with Tara Statton Photography in Devon
Breathtaking doesn’t even begin to describe today’s styled wedding inspiration feature. This is one for every girl who’s ever dreamed of a stately home wedding – the styling touches are exquisite; the florals divine; the photography so perfectly beautiful… with words and images by the incredibly talented Tara Statton Photography at Great Fulford in Devon.
“The inspiration for our shoot was centered around the beautiful and historic Great Fulford Estate. It has so much charm with its grand rooms, wooden paneling, marble floors and imposing staircase. You can just imagine guests in all of their English finery attending parties within these huge rooms hundreds of years ago. The walls are adorned with gold framed oil paintings and decorated with blue grey tones. Yet amongst its grandeur, the manor house has a shabby element to it in a romantic and beautiful sort of way, with pealing wallpaper and a distressed edge to it. This combination is what really drew us to Great Fulford as a location for our shoot, it has a uniqueness that sets it aside from some of the more polished venues.
The Styling
We reflected the blue, grey, gold and neutral tones of the manor within our our table set up, stationery, cakes and floral design. Brass candle sticks with tall taupe candles were dotted amongst the romantic florals, with traditional cut-glass glasses, cutlery and intricate gold chargers arranged to create a lavish tablescape.
We wanted to introduced an element of luxury to our shoot, and reflected this within some of the finer details too. Our cakes were beautifully decorated with gold foil and delicate flowers, and silk ribbons were gracefully composed with the bouquets and stationery. The Stationery provided by de Winton Paper co was a perfect match for our shoot, her elegant lettering and intricate blue illustration tying in beautifully with our theme.
The Flowers
The flowers were a major aspect of our shoot, representing both the traditional house and modern trends. With this year’s big trend of greenery, our florist Jacalyn opted for soft grey rambling foliage’s creating decadent table swags. She created organic styled bridal bouquets, introducing a hint of old metallic gold to echo that of the portraits surrounding us. English garden Roses and sweet Syringa were used with Bluebells and pretty blush Peonies, alongside other delicate English grown flowers for texture.
The Beauty & Fashion
Makeup artist Laura and Hair Stylist Rosanne achieved a timeless, soft and feminine look on our model Victoria, creating a true English Rose. She wore beautiful simplistic lace and tulle dresses and intricate headpieces of gold and fresh water pearls. She was able to float effortlessly around our venue, reflecting both a modern and elegant bride.
The aim of the shoot was to create timeless and elegant wedding inspiration for couples looking to have their weddings within traditional venues, incorporating modern and classic ideas into a grand space.
