Happy Christmas Eve Eve, everyone! It’s our last day of publishing on the English Wedding Blog, and I wanted to finish up the year with something gorgeous, luxurious and a little festive… the sort of styled shoot you can snuggle up to with a glass of mulled wine and just enjoy some of our very best sparkle and style.
We’re bringing you today’s feature from Berkeley Castle, and I hope it will inspire 2016 brides and grooms planning a castle wedding or a luxury stately home celebration.
Images are by the fabulous Albert Palmer Photography.
Words are by lovely Olivia at Host Event Management.
Highland Inspired Wedding Shoot
A team of local talented suppliers collaborated at the breathtaking Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire on a crisp Autumn day to capture images with a Scottish theme.
The shoot theme was decided upon by wedding planner Olivia Mills from Host Event Management: “I wanted to provide something different to inspire brides. You see so many whimsical, summery shoots on blogs and in magazines, I wanted to create something moody, luxe and rich for brides to be to get ideas from.
The shoot fitted perfectly with the venue with its majestic great hall and regal gardens. Also I wanted to showcase Autumn/Winter weddings as they are just as lovely as Spring/Summer weddings.
To make the shoot “Scottish” our male model Jack was dressed in a “spirit of Scotland” tartan kilt complete with sporran and matching suit attire from Men’s Hire in Bristol.
We dressed our female model Liz in very regal wedding gowns with flowing full skirts and long veils from bridal boutique Veils of Berkeley. Liz’s make-up was perfectly applied by Jessica Mills makeup artist with dark purple eyes and deep red lips. We decided upon an up do with a front plait courtesy of hair stylist Vanessa Hambly.
The colour scheme was a rich, deep purple to compliment the purple tartan ribbon used on the cake, place settings and chair backs. Silver charger plates gave a luxe feel against crisp white linen, ornate silver cutlery, crystal cut glassware and silver tea light holders.
Place cards and individual menus (with a Scottish theme of course!) adorned the table created by Cotswold Letterpress. The favours were miniature bottles of Scottish Whisky and fudge shaped into love hearts adorned the table in a stag head dish.
A silver candelabra stood proud in the middle of the table with dried hydrangea, thistles and dark red roses. The same flowers were used in the bridal bouquet all expertly crafted by Lisa Elliott Floral Design.
We lit the fire to create a glow and warm feeling in the images.
All the elements were styled by Olivia and Catherine of Host Event Management. The cake was a four tiered masterpiece with silver intricate sugar craft by Anne at Pretty Amazing Cakes. All the images were taken by talented Bristol based photographer Albert Palmer.”
