“It’s not the formal photos that remind you how great your day was – it’s the natural fun and excitement that is so important to be documented. Amy’s ability not to miss a moment is incredible, and her energy and passion comes across in the photos. Amy is a photographic ninja and we cannot recommend her enough.” ~ by gorgeous bride Hannah
As a wedding blogger, it’s this passion for beautiful images and enthusiasm and excitement for suppliers which make me sit up and listen. Hannah emailed me to tell me about her wedding to George, and from the moment I saw the first photos of their day I was hooked. Not only are they a stunning couple: they have the most wonderful recommendations and advice to share with you. Today’s Kent wedding is one of the loveliest I’ve seen and I cannot wait to show you all of the beautiful photographs!
George and Hannah had some incredibly beautiful details on their day. Flowers from a family friend who is a professional florist are just wonderful. The books, lovingly crafted by Katherine Hodson, are a fabulous feature. I adore the element of fun which is guaranteed at fabulous venue Marleybrook House! Hannah also urges couples to “Enter loads of bridal competitions. I was lucky enough to win two competitions saving quite a large sum of money…… You have to be in it to win it!!!”
Another top tip from the bride and groom which melted my heart more than a little:
“Really look around at everyone in attendance and think about how much they mean to you. It will probably be the only time all those people are in the same room. Take in how much you love your significant other and how amazing you feel at that very moment.” … Just about the most romantic thing I’ve ever published!

The English Wedding Blog Interview: Hannah and George
Wedding photographer’s website:
How did you choose your photographer?
Amy photographed a friend’s wedding a year or so ago and I was so impressed with how she captured the day so I started following Amy on Instagram. There was no doubting who we wanted to photograph our wedding. As soon as we had secured our date we booked Amy for our big day.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
Amy has such an amazing talent for capturing ‘moments’ which is exactly what you want on your wedding day. It’s not the formal photos that remind you how great your day was – it’s the natural fun and excitement that is so important to be documented. Amy’s ability not to miss a moment is incredible, and her energy and passion comes across in the photos. She is able to blend in so well that your guests will not realize they’re being photographed. Amy is a photographic ninja and we cannot recommend her enough.
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
I received the email from Amy mid-morning and I was so excited to get home and look over the pictures together with George. I could hardly contain my excitement on the train home.
We sat down with a bottle of champagne and re-lived every moment. The images were fantastic and made us realize how lucky we both are to have such an amazing support unit of family and friends.
Once we had looked through the images three or four times on our own we thought it was only right that we called our best friends and family to come over for a preview.
Marleybrook House – It is so unique and magical we fell in love with this charming venue the minute we arrived four our viewing.
Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
A day that was full of love and laughter.
Your wedding style or theme:
English Country Wedding
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
Most of our suppliers were recommendations from our friends or from our wedding venue. However I also enjoyed doing lots of research and used suppliers from wedding blogs and Pinterest.
What’s your top tip for saving money?
Enter loads of bridal competitions. I was lucky enough to win two competitions saving quite a large sum of money…… You have to be in it to win it!!!
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
Catering – The food and the service provided by Scott and Anderson were outstanding and we received lots of comments from our guests. They use local produce and were recommended to us by our wedding venue.
Bridesmaid dresses – There are lots of websites out there that replicate bridesmaid dresses and are advertised at a cheaper price. I would recommend spending a little more and visiting a bridal store. We brought Dessy dresses from Les Trois Seurs and the girls were so pleased with them and all felt amazing in them on the day.
Flowers – Lucky for us our florist was a family friend who is extremely talented so although we did not spend more on this I would recommend that other brides do. When the bouquets arrived on the morning of the wedding they were the last finishing touch. I was overwhelmed at how lovely they were.
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
Our wedding stationery was from Sarah Wants. Her invitations were featured in a magazine and we fell in love with them the minute we saw them. The design we chose was the Cornflower Meadow Collection and it complimented our vintage country wedding theme.
Sarah was a delight to work with and we would highly recommend her.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
I absolutely fell in love with my dress at first sight and I knew from the moment I put the dress on that it would be the dress for me. The reaction on my mother and sisters face confirmed this and I felt amazing in the dress on the day.

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
Jewelry: Earrings purchased by the groom as a present on the wedding day from Carat.
Shoes: Sparkly sliver sandals from LK Bennett
And what did the groom wear? Any recommendations for tailors?
George had a very specific look in mind for what he wanted to wear on the wedding day. We spent a lot of time researching tailors and browsing the internet but nothing was catching his eye. We then stumbled across Jack Bunneys on Pinterest and based purely on the website the suits looked a cut above the rest literally.
George had his suit made and could not have been more pleased with his three piece light grey checked suit. For the rest of the groom’s party we hired the suits and the actual hire was very painless. We collected the suits the Thursday before the wedding and dropped them back the Monday after.
Mark and his team at Jack Bunny’s really know their stuff and the customer service was outstanding.
The men also wore matching Barker shoes to finish their look.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
My beautiful bridesmaids all wore Dessy dresses purchased from Les Tois Seurs. After trying on lots of difference style dresses we decided that the girls would all go for full length dresses but have different necklines to complement their different shapes.
The colour we decided on for the dresses was Larkspur and on the day the girls all wore matching earrings from Swarovski.
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
Our hair was done by Beau Babbington (Insta: HAIRBYBEAUMUA). She did an amazing job and we were all so pleased with our hair on the day. We received lots of compliments and I have already recommended Beau to many of my friends for hair styling. She is extremely talented.
Our make-up was done by the amazing Lucy Jayne. I was actually lucky enough to win a competition with Lucy and I was so pleased. She made us all feel so fresh faced and our skin looked so flawless. She recently won the wedding beauty award from Kent Weddings for 2015. I think this speaks volumes about how passionate she is about her work.
Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (Florist details would be lovely please)
A family friend (Hayley’s Flowers) arranged our flowers for the big day. We went for an English country garden look which was wild and in shades of soft pink and blue.
My favorite flower is the gorgeous Hydrangea so of course there were in all the bouquets.
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
Our venue did not really need any decoration or styling as already decorated amazingly. However I couldn’t resist a few extra bits for a personal touch.
Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?
I cannot take all the credit for the homemade elements of our big day as I definitely had lots of helpers…
One of our best friends Katherine Hodson (she definitely deserves to be named) kindly made us lots of homemade crafts to decorate the room for the wedding breakfast. She spent hours folding pages making book origami which loads of people commented.
My bridesmaids also helped by creating freshen up boxes for the toilets and a basket of flip flops for peoples aching feet.
We also made our own seating plan and thanks to Hobby Craft this was a pretty stress free task and we were both really pleased with how this looked on the day.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
My wedding cake was inspired by a design I found online. I decided to go for a dusty pink cake opposed to the tradition white and with the help of Becky (Wedding Cake Specialist) I was able to adjust the design to exactly what I wanted.
I loved how my cake looked on the day, it was so eye catching and different to anything I had seen before….. It tasted so delicious too. Designing and tasting the cake was one of my favorite elements of the wedding planning.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
We decided to surprise our guests with a Beatles Tribute Band called ‘Imagine the Beatles’. They are one of the most popular Beatles tribute bands in the UK.
Their attention to detail is extraordinary, they’ve got the look, the sound and the mannerisms. They were a huge hit with our guests and created a fun upbeat vibe for our evening guests to arrive to.
On the day tips and advice:
Firstly ….. Breathe, enjoy the planning process and ultimately, enjoy your day and being with all your loved ones.
Secondly…..Create a very detailed itinerary of the wedding day for your wedding party and anyone else involved. It will help everyone understand where they need to be when and what is expected of them.
Don’t be scared to rely on your maid of honor and bridesmaids, let them focus on the small details whilst you relax on the wedding morning. They are your best friends after all and will do all they can to ensure your day runs as planned.
Lastly …..Really look around at everyone in attendance and think about how much they mean to you. It will probably be the only time all those people are in the same room. Take in how much you love your significant other and how amazing you feel at that very moment
