If you ever needed proof that you can have a beautiful wedding, on a budget, and make it look even better than all the weddings you see on major wedding blogs – then beautiful bride Charlotte and her handsome groom Jay are here to show you a thing or two. I always look at the guy’s suits when I’m choosing weddings for the blog – and in this case, Jay’s shoes are pretty fab as well! Charlotte told me “We always wanted the men in something a bit different and wool like (especially seeing as though it was a winter wedding) and we just couldn’t find anything like this to hire, and didn’t have the budget to have something made just for Jay. In the end we ended up finding the perfect suit in Next and luckily we could get them all in everyone’s size.” I think they look great.

A unique wedding doesn’t have to be full of out-there ideas or unusual vintage collectibles: on the day what makes a wedding unique is the people you share it with. Shelley and Richard chose to have a traditional wedding with pretty pink styling touches at one of Leicestershire’s loveliest venues: Hothorpe Hall.

Shelley looks amazing – she’s such a beautiful bride. She told me she fell in love with her wedding dress, despite thinking she’d go for a totally different style… and she looks like it was made for her, doesn’t she?

The details of the day are simple and traditional: flowers are romantic and girly with lots of delicate pinks, and were provided by a local florist in Dunchurch village. There are some sweet and pretty ideas here, and those of you researching classic wedding styles will find inspiration for your big day – as well as some great tips and advice from Shelley and Richard at the end of the blog post.

I love this advice from beautiful Shani: “You do not need to spend huge amounts of money to have a lovely wedding. Simplicity is often the best route.” This is oh so true – and the proof is in the wonderful images of Shani and Tim’s gorgeous homemade Kent wedding which I’m proud to feature on the English Wedding Blog today.

Everything here is homemade with love and shows just what you can achieve if you really enjoy being crafty and making things – as Shani so clearly does. There’s more though – and green fingered brides should take note: the flowers are divine and all home grown. Shani is a talented florist and what I love most of all is that today’s fabulous couple planted and grew over 300 plants from seed for their wedding day. Wow.
