I’m so thrilled to be able to put you lovely brides and grooms in touch with the amazing wedding suppliers I’ve come to know and love through years of blogging. The UK wedding industry is so inspiring, such a wonderful thing to be a part of. The English Wedding Directory began in January and is my way of matchmaking couples with their dream suppliers.

Suppliers check out my Facebook page for a VERY special offer for new members from TODAY!

Please join me in welcoming these lovely creatives who’ve joined the Directory in the last couple of weeks:

Paul Fuller is a Kent wedding photographer who shoots in a relaxed, laid back, documentary style that doesn’t get in the way of you experiencing your wedding day. Check out Charlie and Ashok’s Indian fusion wedding to see how beautifully it works!

Moritz Schmittat is based in London and Surrey. His photography is graceful and elegant, and his approach to shooting weddings is down to earth, friendly and professional. Watch his great little introduction piece here: https://schmittat.uk

If you love summer flowers and dream of an opulent, gloriously fragrant summer bouquet – then today’s wedding is going to blow your mind! The flowers are exquisite – and then some. Beautiful bride Hannah is breathtaking in full lace sleeves and a glorious Caroline Castigliano gown while her rather gorgeous groom Will is every bit the country gentleman.

Their marquee wedding has the loveliest styling ideas with hanging floral decoration, huge centrepieces full of colour and even blossom trees to create the country garden look. The table plan is my fave with prettily folded cards set amongst yet more florals catching prettily in the breeze.

All of the flowers were styled by lovely Susie Hart of Hart Company, who brought together peonies, hydrangeas, roses and cornflowers to create the pretty bouquets for Hannah and her bridesmaids. Hydrangeas were key in the hanging chandeliers, which incorporated foliage and tender ferns for a looser shape and wonderful texture.

I adore this wedding. Bolton Abbey is amazing – what a superb location for gorgeous, memorable wedding photos, don’t you think?! Today’s gorgeous bride Vicky’s couture dress is stunning; I love Howard’s outfit, they just look perfect together. And the festoon lighting and sparklers… absolutely incredible. LOVE it all!!!

I chose my dress which was from Lyn Ashworth by Sarah Barrett as I loved her lace detail. I didn’t find a specific dress that had all the elements I wanted but the Lyn Ashworth collection gives you the option to pick one element from one dress and add it to another dress which was perfect. I put all my favorite elements together and made a bespoke dress that I absolutely loved and felt amazing in.

Our reception venue was tepees in the grounds of the bride’s parents house. We personally decorated the tepees with bunting and paper lanterns and also added fairy lighting and festoon lighting, disco ball, a rustic gift table, love sign and photograph wall of the hen and stag dos.

Elopements have been flitting across my wedding blog radar for the last couple of years, and they’re right at the forefront of my mind just now. I love the idea of running away together!

UK weddings have changed so much but elopements have been happening forever. When society was strictly disapproving couples had to run away to be married for all sorts of reasons. Now, elopement is a choice. Marriage and weddings have grown bigger and more extravagant, and with the current trend for DIY, weddings are now hugely time consuming – and for many couples your wedding will be the biggest project of your lives!

The lifesaver comes in the form of elopement. Couples who choose to run away together now are embracing a new kind of creativity: creative thinking. Having a creative wedding doesn’t just mean kraft, sequins and a glue gun. It means breaking all the rules…

We’re soooo discovering theatres as fabulous wedding reception spaces in England now, and I LOVE them all! Hilary and Taher were married in Yorkshire with their reception at the King’s Hall and Winter Garden – a fabulous space with tons of character.

They’re a gorgeous and stylish couple. Hilary’s dress is divine – a unique designer number by the incredibly talented Astral Sundholm. Hilary told me she fell in love with Astral as well as with her beautiful dress!

Hilary told me the best thing about being married is “Being able to look back at a wonderful wedding, and look forward to a beautiful future.” So shall we have a look at those gorgeous wedding photos ourselves? They’re by wonderful Yorkshire wedding photographer Suzy Mitchell:

I was so thrilled for my friend and featured wedding photographer Suzy Mitchell when I found out she’d won a major award in wedding photography. Suzy has featured on the English Wedding Blog many times and I’m delighted to be able to share her news with you all today.

Every year The Guild Of Photographers holds a competition for the Photographer and Image of the Year. In 2014 over 10,000 images were submitted so it’s really something for Suzy to have come away with such a great award – only two wedding images were chosen as winners, and Suzy’s was the overall winner in documentary wedding photography.

Suzy told me, “I was elated to have been chosen as Documentary Wedding Photographer of the Year and delighted to put Ilkley on the map as we have some amazing opportunities for outdoor photography including Bolton Abbey Priory where the winning photograph was taken.

Suzy’s studio nestles at the foot of Ilkley Moor from where she enjoys using the beautiful Yorkshire Dales as a backdrop for much of her photography.

Wedding photographer Suzy Mitchell first featured here on the English Wedding Blog with a styled ‘vintage military wedding‘ shoot – which tugged at my heartstrings, being inspired by a real life story. I’m delighted to be able to introduce you to Suzy as an English Wedding Blog sponsor today. She’s passionate about her photography – and it shows. Suzy’s images are timeless and beautiful: she captures those unexpected and magical moments as well as she photographs wonderfully artistic portraits… and I love her work.

Suzy told me, “I was trying to think of the one thing I most wanted to say to a couple considering booking me, as their photographer and it was simple really, just that I want it to be fun!! To get to know you as a couple, understand what you are looking for and for you to really enjoy the experience of working with me!

What happened to your wedding venue in the 1940s? You could be treading in the footsteps of a wartime bride, or even on a film set… as is the case with Yorkshire’s magnificent Denton Hall. In 1942 the venue became a location for filming a romantic war film about a soldier’s story of love lost – and has a romance and sense of nostalgia which should be cherished.

In May, I was asked to contribute some calligraphy to a styled shoot at Denton Hall. Wedding photographer Suzy Mitchell and make-up artist Annabel Bailey styled a fabulous 1940s inspired shoot which took place in the grounds and rooms of the venue.

Annabel’s Grandfather fought in the second world war, and his uniforms were worn by the ‘groom’ in today’s styled shoot. The bride wears a vintage dress from York’s Glory Days Vintage, and after the wedding I adore the images where for me, the simpler dresses are just as gorgeous as the bridal gown.

Happy Tuesday morning my lovely! How are you? I’m a bundle of nervous excitement as I’ve just heard that a shoot I was involved in will be featured on the fabulous Brides Up North blog this month! All I can show you for now is a couple of sneak peeks of my calligraphy – and my top tip for the next few weeks is to join me in reading Brides Up North to see the rest of this gorgeous shoot!

Suzy Mitchell is a wedding and social photographer based in Ilkley, Yorkshire. She got in touch to tell me about her 1940s inspired shoot and to ask for some calligraphy and stationery to feature as part of the styling on the day. I was delighted to help out, and created a bespoke set of stationery especially for Suzy: see The Denton Hall invitation suite on my website.
