Today’s styled shoot features a cast of north west wedding superstars, creative talents I’ve admired since the beginning of the English Wedding Blog a whole 6 years ago. Kerry Baker‘s fabulous make up steals the show. Flowers by Red Floral are breathtaking. Jane at HF Couture‘s designer hair accessories are exquisite; the images by Teresa C Photography are out of this world. This is bridal style without compromise: a brave, striking and different look for those of you who don’t wear pastels. I LOVE this.

Not every bride dreams of a pretty pastel wedding. In the modern age of Pinterest and social media, we are seeing couples experiment more and more with texture and colour. One trend which is set to become very popular is the used of mixed metallics to dress the venue, creating a lavish, decadent and opulent style.

Rainbows – the closest thing to magic we get to see in our English skies. I’ve never lost that girlish excitement I feel when I see one. I’ll stop in my tracks and grin up at the sky every time – and I definitely believe rainbows are lucky omens! So what better inspiration for styling a wedding? Rainbows have it all: luck and happiness, colour and fun!

Today’s English Wedding Blog feature is all about love and rainbows. Lovely Laura from Perfect Choice Planning got in touch to share this amazing inspiration shoot with me and I was hooked instantly. The images are divine, it features one of my favourite wedding industry friends Beth from Cakes by Beth, and the brides in the shoot are a real life couple –  their images have an exquisite tingly quality you’ll love!

Achieving the opulence of a rich gothic style for your wedding is a challenge; it’s a look which I’d have thought would need an extravagant wedding budget – gothic being indulgent, artistic and lush.

The great thing about English wedding venues is their history; finding a venue with a gothic style, ornate picture frames and decorative features means you’re already halfway there. And with a few special touches from creative wedding suppliers, you can create a gothic theme for your wedding without breaking the bank!

Laura from Perfect Choice Planning submitted this moody gothic wedding inspiration shoot for English Wedding Blog – along with words to introduce you to some fabulous wedding suppliers (several already great friends of the blog!) so I’ll hand over the reins to her now. Enjoy – and I hope this gives you some ideas for your own gothic inspired wedding!

alternative royal wedding inspiration photo credit Damian Hall (15)Back in the very beginning of English Wedding Blog I wrote my ‘About‘ page to introduce myself. I love pretty things: I adore edgy, provocative and rebellious things as well. My response to the diamond jubilee and Olympics marketing-fest has been halfhearted… until Mat Hepplestone of Red Floral got in touch. Mat’s flower designs are always a revelation – and his flair for the alternative and cutting edge in flower design is unrivalled. With such a top creative team behind this shoot, I’m convinced: Britannia rules!

This is a wedding industry shoot which stands out from the crowd of red, white and blue-bedecked blog features. And while I might sample a cupcake and wave a bit of bunting come jubilee weekend (I’ve moved back to a little Cumbrian village – my Dad will make me!), inside my heart this is the Britannia I can relate to. The story behind the shoot is just as inspiring – over to Mat to tell you more.

Red Floral wedding flowers app UKIt seems like years since we were all saying, “there’s an app for that”! When apps were invented, and our iPhones were all brand spangly new, apps were everywhere. English Wedding Blog was on an app which collated wedding blogs, for example. Now wedding apps are smarter, sleeker and better for couples. They’re full of information, image galleries for ideas, and offer a means to contact your favourite wedding suppliers instantly for appointments and consultations.

One of my most top favourite (seriously, I love him!) wedding flower designers has just launched an app. Mat Hepplestone of Red Floral has caught the attention and imaginations of celebrity couples, OK magazine and dazzled crowds at wedding shows with his architectural creative flower design. Did you see his feature on Rock n Roll Bride last week? He’s a leading light in wedding floristry and with an app to share with his couples, Mat is once again setting a trend for the rest of us to follow!

It’s also a hell of a lot of fun.

I watched, intrigued, as my two friends, together with the fabulous Chris Hanley Photography, devised a shoot which would explore the very core of their two brands.

Joanne and Nia’s willingness to let their hair down and play was just brilliant. The shoot they dreamed up looks right into the heart of their businesses, painting Vintage Twee in eccentric perfectionism and playing with Nia Fiori’s love of burlesque and fine art.

I love their promo shoot, which for me puts a whole new light on promoting a brand image.
