Alex and Anneka are the coolest! They chose East Quay Whitstable as their venue and focused their wedding planning on food, alcohol and music… because “these are the main things that make a great wedding and that your guests will remember!” It’s a brilliant June wedding with a neutral palette and simple, elegant styling touches and florals. We’ve featured East Quay weddings on the blog before now, and it’s a venue which always has that boho beach drifter, cool and quirky vibe. It’s definitely a favourite for English Wedding, and I just know you’ll adore Alex & Anneka’s day!

We found our photographer via the East Quay Venue Instagram page. As soon as we met Michelle and saw more of her work, the decision was easy.

“I feel so lucky to be able to do the job I do. Personally, I can be shy when having my own photos taken! So, my main focus is to make my couples feel comfortable with me and the camera, and to create beautiful memories without interfering too much into your day!

A blissfully beautiful real wedding for you this Friday… I’ve been excited to share this one, and I just know you’ll love it! Becky and Martin married in July 2018 at Cooling Castle barn in Kent. They have a shared love of travel and adventure, and styled their wedding with nods to this from globes to photographs on each table and little mini travel cameras – the theme of travelling was all around.

Images are by our lovely friend and English Wedding member, Kent based Michelle Cordner Photography. Becky’s dress is from Wed2B, teamed with shoes from Paradox. Her hair is by Zara Rose and makeup is by Lydia Rae. Martin bought a suit from Moss and teamed it with a dusky pink tie from Asos. Floral styling and bouquets are by The Flowersmiths.

“Luckily our venue didn’t need too much decoration. The barn already felt really rustic and didn’t need much adding to it. We decided to add things like a few extra fairy lights, items to tie in with the travel theme like a light up globe, treasure chests for cards and gifts etc. The rest was all handmade items we added.

Good morning, beautiful! Today we’re sharing a key look for 2019 weddings – one that can be recreated easily once you ‘get’ the styling concepts – and one I know will make 2019 a year of weddings to remember. It’s all about understated elegance with careful attention to a few quality details. For me this is a look of almost effortless wedding style – combining simple, minimal details with the smallest touches of real luxury and softness. The florals are absolutely key: delicate and feminine blooms in a soft palette of ivory, nude, blush and soft peach with pops of glorious coral. Texture comes from hare’s tail grasses and striking white anthuriums, while white lilac and butterfly ranunculus bring softness to the look. The colours are what I love most about today’s floral design: those carefully arranged coral blooms really make the arrangements look contemporary and luxurious, don’t you think?

Relaxed wedding photography in Kent, with Michelle Cordner Photography (4)
It takes a pretty special wedding photographer to capture atmosphere in their images. You know the feeling of pure joy from a wedding day, or the way a groom’s expression changes from nervous anticipation, to total loved-up overwhelm and then purest happiness as he walks from the ceremony, his bride on his arm? I see it every day, and it’s one of my favourite things – and the way Kent wedding photographer Michelle Cordner captures emotion in her images really is beautiful.

Today’s wedding has character, individuality and good old English country charm. I love Kelly and Gary’s choice of The Bull Hotel for their intimate Kent wedding – it’s a great little place and just looks so welcoming and off the beaten [wedding] track! Kelly is gorgeous – and despite Gary at one point not wanting a photographer, I’m thrilled they booked lovely Michelle Cordner Photography to capture their day.

“Our wedding inspiration came from us and how we are as a couple. We are relaxed (sometimes too much!), fun loving and love a quirky building and the countryside. We wanted a Kentish feel to our wedding that was slightly different and not what everyone else does.

We found The Bull Hotel through friends recommending it and after visiting them we knew it would be perfect, exactly what we wanted. It’s an old country pub with beautiful beams and brick walls in the Buttery, the room we would marry in and dance the night away. They have their own wedding organisers to help you right from the beginning up until the moment I walked down the aisle. They were truly fabulous and I’ll always be grateful for the any of the stresses I had to be instantly taken away.
