I’m writing this as I sit behind my little stand at Askham Hall on Sunday – where I’m an exhibit! (with my By Moon & Tide Calligraphy hat on.) This is the one ‘local’ venue I’ve been desperate to explore for years, and never quite made it until today… and it’s beautiful.

I’m here with all of my calligraphy, signage and stationery goodies, all set up for the day. The vibe is magical, the venue is bursting with relaxed and pretty barn wedding charm, and the other exhibitors (‘exhibit’ is just how I feel!) are super lovely humans who’ve made me feel at home.

Hey lovely! Happy FRIDAY!!! I’m totally feeling Friday vibes today – last night we were partying until the early hours in Manchester; this morning we’ve had a little shop in the big city, ready for my sister in law’s WEDDING at the end of the month. SOOOO exciting!!! So every wedding I see on my screen right now is totally capturing my heart. Tomorrow afternoon I’m teaching a modern calligraphy class in the Lakes – tickets are still available here if you can join us! – but first, I have an absolute gem of a wedding for you – you’re going to adore this.

Thistles and kilts for a Scottish themed wedding in Penrith, with Jessica Lang Photography (12)

Today’s wedding is wonderful. A glorious mix of Lakeland and Scottish styling touches, with home grown flowers (all of them – isn’t that amazing?!), DIY details and the most beautiful bride and gorgeous groom. The venue is lovely Askham Hall, which looks fabulous and has the most incredible gardens for outdoor shots. I think my fave thing about Cally and Colin’s wedding is all the help they had from friends and family to bring their day together, and all the personal touches – an heirloom kilt; hand painted table names; oh! and a genius idea of a song from the best men which Cally explains in her interview below. You’ll love this…
