Dominique and Nick’s wedding is beautiful – gracefully styled with exquisite florals and elegant touches throughout. Their venue needs no introduction: Pendrell Hall is one of our faves here at English Wedding HQ. Dominique looks so lovely in her dress, although she admits to having her bridal ‘moment’ when she fell in love with her shoes! (which are gorgeous!!) The focus of this fab couple’s wedding is most certainly on family, and that’s what we love most of all. Involving your children in your wedding is so important, and will make the day so much more special and memorable… even if you do end up lying on the floor in your wedding dress having Thomas the Tank Engine driven across your hair (seriously, one of my fave pics! Don’t miss it at the end of this blog post!)
Happy Saturday, you beautiful people! Whatever your plans today, I hope they’re full of love and hugs – this week has been heartbreaking and it really brings home the need to enjoy every moment we’re lucky enough to be living happily and in love. Publicly on the blog I’m still sharing beautiful things as an escape from the everyday and as a focus on the future – and so today I have something extraordinarily wonderful to show you.
Lovely Emma Jane got in touch to share this stunning walled garden wedding inspo with us all. I adore the styling – the hand lettering, the little golden pears.
The olive branches and minimalist, pretty cake are divine. But what wins this shoot for me is the absolutely gorgeous bride and groom and their super cute four legged friend…
The shoot was based at Sugnall Walled Garden in Staffordshire. The concept was to portray an outdoor, elegant yet rustic feel aptly named “An Outdoor Romance.”
Aaron and Sarah’s wedding has wow factor: the locations around Consall Hall are simply breathtaking. Those trees... really, these are some of my favourite wedding pics so far this year. I love their day for its simplicity, rustic appeal and romance – and the beautiful bride and groom are just made for each other.
“We chose a vintage/rustic theme as Aaron proposed after an afternoon tea (which we then chose to have as a wedding breakfast), and because we love the informal/relaxed style. We did a lot of the preparation ourselves, we made all of the stationery including invitations (huge saving!), and we kept things simple.”
“I loved making all of the stationery, but then I am a perfectionist and I knew exactly what I wanted. One person we met with said that the design wasn’t possible in the size we wanted (A6). Luckily I am a crafty person, so determined to have what I wanted, I made it myself (and succeeded!)”
I’m a bookworm, and proud! And I love a wedding with a venue full of books… if I could get married in the village library where I spent many happy hours as a little girl I think I would, you know?! So today, a treat: a beautiful English wedding from Somerford Hall with a wonderfully bookish theme and the loveliest couple ever: Becky & Gareth.
“Somerford Hall didn’t need a great deal of decoration as it’s so beautiful anyway. I asked for a few handmade and personal things in each room (there are so many rooms!), including vintage glass bowls filled with sweets, Jane Austen-themed bunting on the bar, and little wooden hearts on loops of ribbon. I made little framed paper crafted items, such as a list of all of our important dates, such as when we first met, and when we moved in together. My sister also updated some pretty horseshoes with ribbon and pages from old books – those horseshoes had been at my grandparents’ wedding!”
Booky people, an elegant Palladian mansion and a dash of Lord of the Rings meets Harry Potter… today’s is a wedding which ticks all of my boxes and the images are out of this world. The day and details are fabulous; the bride and groom Becky & Gareth gorgeous… family dog Lucy plays a major part in the pics and there’s even the sweetest cat (oblivious to any wedding goings-on) and so many gorgeous photos to show you. I can’t wait!!!
“I tied ribbon and a handwritten label to 70 classic books as favours… very time-consuming, but it was really fun choosing particular books for particular people. I know a lot of them have been read and enjoyed, too!”
“Our flowers were a purple and blue scheme; my bouquet contained delicate mauve roses to contrast with my ivory dress, while the bridesmaids had white roses to contrast their dresses in various shades of purple and blue. I asked Glenice to create a soft, natural look, loosely arranging the flowers and incorporating some pearls from one of my grandmother’s broken necklaces. For the church, Glenice made some beautiful large arrangements with gladioli and hydrangeas; she then kindly transported them to Somerford Hall so that we got to see them all day!”
Step into a whole world of elegance and old English charm with me… for a peek inside one of our loveliest country house wedding venues, Pendrell Hall. From the outside Pendrell is enticing and full of character, with delicious red brick walls and glistening window panes… and inside it’s a world of luxurious wood panelling, divine decor and subtle, elegant style. Gorgeous couple Lyndsey and Dan were married there, and I asked them to share their own personal experience of this wonderful wedding venue with us all today.

“We fell in love with Pendrell Hall the moment we walked through the door and felt very much at home – whilst it’s a stunning venue that needs little to no decoration we wanted to enhance the homely feel with personal items and everyday objects from our home.” ~ Lyndsey & Dan
Sometimes the images of a day just speak for themselves… “We raced to the computer, watched the beautiful slideshow and spent the rest of the afternoon sobbing! Needless to say we were quite emotional about the whole thing. The next day we went through a vast quantity of tea whilst going back through them, and we’re still just as blown away.”

Today’s is a wonderfully personal wedding, and I love it all the more for being so special to everyone there. “We wanted to enhance the homely feel with personal items and everyday objects from our home. Both our families are hugely important to us, which is something we really wanted to celebrate through our wedding day, so we surrounded ourselves with tons of family photos in every room.”
Later today we’re heading for the wedding tent at Kirstie Allsopp’s second Handmade Fair – and we’re ridiculously excited about the whole thing! Before we go, I have a superb wedding to share with you all. You’ll LOVE this! We’re talking English sophistication, classy styling and elegant touches in a magnificent venue: Pendrell Hall. The bride is beautiful; the entire day just makes me feel happy.
Tim and Nerissa give a glowing review for their photographers Rob & Sarah Gillespie. It’s interesting to hear how a husband and wife photography team can bring so much to your wedding: for today’s bride and groom this was one of the (many!) reasons they chose Rob and Sarah as their wedding photographers. “Due to their vast wedding experience they were able to help and advise us as to what photos worked well and the timings for the day which really helped. We would highly recommend Rob and Sarah!”

Sunflowers are my favourite… nothing packs a punch quite like a wedding full of glorious sunflowers. Marianne and Sam’s wedding is like summer itself: warming and friendly, bright and cheerful, beautifully floral (of course!) and glorious with colour and sunshine. You’re going to LOVE today’s real wedding feature!
Sam and Marianne married at Pendrell Hall in Staffordshire, a superb venue which needs very little additional decor. Pendrell is one of England’s finest country house wedding venues, and I adore the atmosphere and charm of the house and gardens. Our bride and groom are both stunning: Marianne’s designer dress was made especially for her by the supremely talented Zeynep Kartal, while Sam wore Ted Baker.

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had the loveliest weekends… and for anyone who’s not in a work mood right now I have a really charming DIY wedding to share with you. Matt and Steph were married at The Ashes in Staffordshire and poured their hearts into creating a pretty day full of little details and DIY touches.
Steph’s Mum was a star, crafting so many of the tiny details of the day. Steph told me, “We went a little mad on the decor and had loads of flowers, vases, candles and ornaments but it all worked out and looked beautiful!”

Shall we step into Steph and Matt’s wonderful homemade wedding? Enjoy.

Kate and Chris’s wedding is divine: a luxury summer celebration with fabulous white hydrangeas and a marquee reception at Kate’s parents’ farm. It’s beautiful: Kate told me they had lots of help from their families to plan and style the perfect day… and oh, didn’t they just!
The white hydrangeas make a bold statement; Kate’s bouquet is gorgeous. The images are wonderful – Samantha Jane Photography gets a glowing review from the happy couple. “We thought the photos were amazing and really told the story of the day, capturing moments that myself and my husband didn’t always get to see.”

Good morning everyone! I hope your week is going well. I have so many things to share with you, my list of blog submissions for fabulous shoots and real weddings is growing and my editorial calendar for July is pretty full… with a little space for anything really special that comes along, so do get in touch if you have a feature for me! In the meantime, I’d love for you to join me today on a virtual trip around beautiful Sandon Hall.
I’ve been chatting on email to Sandon Hall’s resident flower expert, the lovely Breige. We share a love of English country garden flowers for weddings and I’m really looking forward to sharing more floral inspiration from Sandon Hall on the English Wedding Blog over the summer. Already a stunning wedding venue, Sandon Hall looks absolutely incredible when the rooms are filled with flowers, and for Staffordshire couples I don’t think there’s a better choice of wedding venue.
