A brand new wedding calligraphy shop for 2020
As you may know, I write calligraphy for weddings when I’m not in my blogging shoes, and the last couple of weeks have been super busy with some updates to my collections.
I have had my little Etsy shop since 2013 and in that time I’ve written for hundreds of couples’ weddings. But some of my wedding stationery had been on there the whole time – yes, the whole entire seven years – and was beginning to look a little 1990s around the edges. (I might be overly critical; maths sure as hell ain’t my thing. But yeah, it looked OLD!)
So in January I decided a real overhaul was in order. And I set to photographing, editing and uploading some of the bits and pieces I’ve written for lovely couples over recent months: the vellum paper place names, the torn edge on-the-day stationery, oh, and my favourite: the pebble wedding favours I love writing for people!
Indie business people will know, that’s quite a workload – but at the beginning of January, when it’s all a little quiet on the wedding front, we have time to indulge in all of our new year’s business resolutions. And I did. And then I had a bunch of orders for bespoke calligraphy poems and prints, and my calligraphy kits have been selling, and there’s Mother’s Day to plan for… and then it was February and AAARRGGGHHH…
And then it was all stormy outside so I could spend a long weekend getting everything ready. And finally – FINALLY – my beloved Etsy shop is looking all new and shiny, with its virtual shelves stocked with pieces I’m really proud of. There is loads more to come, but I wanted to show you first. I really hope you like it all!
And sustainability is a big deal for me. I’ve been sourcing papers from sustainable and ethical suppliers. The papers I use now are all ethically handmade (using recycled cotton rag from some amazing small scale manufacturers in India) and my prints are on FSC certified papers. Behind the scenes I’ve overhauled my packaging, so everything is biodegradable, recyclable and good for the planet. (But every little package I send out to a bride or groom is still as beautiful as I can possibly make it!)
