Morning! I thought I’d write more of a chatty post today and take a little break from real weddings, but still with lots of stunning images to inspire you. I’ve been thinking a lot about styled wedding shoots recently – they’re big news since Pinterest exploded back in 2011 and I love them.

Is that controversial? I don’t think so. I remember reading surveys on big wedding blogs before Pinterest really hit the UK, and inspiration shoots weren’t so popular with blog readers. But the internet is changing and becoming all about pretty pictures – and styled shoots are big news now.

People used to criticise styled shoots as being fake, too aspirational or unrealistic. US blogs would show dozens of outdoor wedding shoots before UK couples were even allowed to marry outdoors. Florists would go to town on single tables, creating extravagant displays which look amazing… but which would cost the earth to recreate at an actual wedding. Oh, and there were no grooms – shoots were called ‘bridal shoots’ for a reason.

I’m one of those girls with a stationery fetish. I love notelets and bookplates, and the highlight of my week is always receiving packs of wedding invites and envelopes from top printers and designers to address in calligraphy. When a bride and groom choose fantastic stationery it makes me happy – and nothing makes me happier than hearing of a couple who style their day around their invitations.

On Monday, the lovely Sarah from Dragonfly and Blossom shared her beautiful flower wedding invitations on the blog, and I promised you more inspiration with a floral theme. Specifically, lavender – one of my favourite flowers for its scent and delicate appearance. It’s also a hugely popular wedding flower and looks gorgeous nestled on napkins at wedding receptions!

Outdoor weddings are a really exciting opportunity for UK brides and grooms in 2014. More and more venues are offering outdoor spaces where you can have your civil ceremony, and rustic styling with influences from nature can be as gorgeous as it is a dream to create!

But faced with a lawn, a gazebo or an ornate bandstand for your wedding ceremony, how do you begin to decorate your space? Many couples want to personalise their ceremony backdrop and make it theirs, and I think that’s a wonderful idea. Carrying on the theme to wedding tables for the reception will help coordinate your day – and it’s ever so easy to DIY with a little help from the experts!

I was delighted to be involved in this rustic and natural DIY inspiration shoot with lovely Surrey wedding photographer Karen Flower. Karen told me how much she’d enjoyed styling the shoot, and said “We did all the styling ourselves and used my own linen and bought containers from Ikea” – and isn’t it amazing what you can achieve?!

Morning lovelies! Did you have a wonderful weekend? I hope you had the same amazing sunshine I did yesterday – it was glorious walking in the forests near my home, almost magical. I’m feeling all in love with nature this morning and thought it would be the perfect time to share this beautiful lavender inspired wedding photo shoot with you. The gorgeous couple is Tamarin and Graham Hart, and the theme is Lavender Love!

The shoot, which was styled and shot by wedding photographer Corette Faux with flowers by Joanne Truby Floral Design, shows how you can incorporate fragrant lavender into your wedding day. Lavender makes me think of France in summer, of long lazy days and rustic celebraitons. The shoot also takes the lavender theme a step further, with simple, rustic ideas for a picnic style meal and beautiful sunny photos.

I remember a year or so ago on the blog one of the brides whose vintage wedding featured on the blog told me about a cupboard under the stairs which was full to bursting with a secret stash of cups and saucers she’d been collecting. Today’s blog post has as many ideas for a relaxed rustic wedding as that bride had teacups in her cupboard. Fact.

Morning everyone! I’d like to share this inspirational bridal shoot with you – inspired by ballet and described as “a photo shoot that is like no other“, it’s a stunningly beautiful fusion of ballet and weddings. It’s so good you might fall over.

I fell in love with this ballet bridal shoot instantly, and I’ve a feeling you’re going to love it just as much as I do. The shoot covers a wide range of eras including dresses and accessories from the 1920’s – 1950’s and was carried out at Rhinefield House Hotel in the New Forest. Two professional ballet dancers were the Brides for the day, and they were from wedding photographer Martin Bell‘s old ballet company – Northern Ballet. Martin is based in Hampshire and covers weddings across the UK and internationally. He is also a professional dance photographer. www.martinbell-photography.co.uk
