Yay! I’ve been waiting to see this piece of film about The Future of Vintage bridal photo shoot I featured last week on English Wedding. Into my inbox it popped yesterday and it’s brilliant! (Literally! – those colours… that sunshine…)

Tom Harrington – previous star of his own engagement shoot on English Wedding – is the director of Silk Wedding Videos in Manchester, and was a big part of The Future of Vintage shoot at Styal Lodge.

“The future of vintage shoot was great fun to be involved in and an excellent opportunity to get some of the very best names in the wedding industry together to do what they do best!

“Jonny Draper is an incredible photographer and a good friend of mine. When he mentioned the concept of the shoot at Styal Lodge I thought it was brilliant. Vintage is very much the thing that a lot of people are looking for on their weddings. So to see how this was going to be taken forward really interested me.

The Future of Vintage: Decorate a neutral venue like Styal Lodgewith pretty, bright colours

Decorate your wedding venue in brights, but keep sight of the prettiness of vintage: use paper lanterns in a few bright shades, and add splashes of colour with chair cover sashes and table decorations. Fairy lights always look fabulous (especially as day turns into evening).

Top tip: choose a wedding venue to fit your colours, somewhere without extensive decoration or dark colours on the walls or floor. Styal Lodge is perfect: with a pale carpet, light wood walls and windows everywhere, it’s a really versatile wedding venue for any modern or Future of Vintage theme!

Did you see the Flying Bride earlier today on English Wedding’s Future of Vintage exclusive? The shoot had so many inspiring pictures I had to share a little ‘behind the scenes’ – especially for any North West brides looking for creative suppliers, or for wedding businesses thinking about their own creative shoots.

Imagined up by Manchester photographer Jonny Draper and Styal Lodge manager Georgina Higham, this really was a fantastic shoot. Not just for the images and the way it all looks, but for how these guys work so well together.

I’ve met Jonny a couple of times, visited Styal Lodge and chatted to Georgina and Sarah, and I really felt inspired by them both: shoots like this are just one way they work together; there are also events for brides and grooms, and Jonny is very much involved with other wedding businesses in the Manchester area – organising days to work on social networking skills, sharing product photography and generally growing a successful wedding photography business based around friendship and advice.
