Nicola and Liam met – officially! – on a trip to Paris and tied the knot 10 years later in Manchester’s Castlefield Rooms. I love the venue they’ve chosen… chic and central, brilliant for guests to travel to and in my favourite English city. Their day is lovely, and the images from Paul Joseph Photography are the perfect complement for their city wedding – capturing the style and atmosphere of their day so wonderfully well.

Nicola told me their day had a slightly rustic English summer party theme. The venue was decorated with bunting and poms, and she arrived in style in a gorgeous campervan – which would always turn heads in the centre of Manchester!

As well as the gorgeous couple and fabulous images, there’s advice for you today: Nicola told me they enjoyed making things themselves – bunting, stationery and so on – but that it can get stressful closer to the wedding. There’s always a balance to be found between budgeting and time-saving, so do think carefully before you decide to DIY! Having said that… it all looks so beautiful!

Theatre venues are special: the atmosphere is already awesome but once your guests are seated there’s such a buzz of anticipation… I absolutely love them to bits! Hannah and Rik set the scene for their day (apologies for the stage pun!) with brilliant big letters and made their wedding exciting, theatrical and generally amazing from beginning to end.

See what I mean?

The venue is Ilkley’s Kings Hall and Winter Gardens – a fabulous period theatre in the heart of Yorkshire’s charming spa town. Letters are by Glow Love Lights (these are the best: handmade by a master carpenter and for hire across the UK) and images are by lovely Leeds-based Paul Joseph Photography. (Congratulations to lovely Kelly, one half of the photography business, who is the new star blogger at Boho Weddings Blog!)
