Nowadays, more and more people want a wedding that people will remember, which could mean anything from doing a synchronised first dance that goes viral on social media, or arriving at the wedding on a tractor.

One of the most effective ways to make sure that your wedding gets talked about for years to come is to pick a unique wedding venue — especially if it showcases your personality, and matches your chosen wedding theme.

Luckily, for those of you getting married in Britain, there are plenty of incredible places to get married that will ensure that your wedding is one for the ages.

7 British wedding venues that will really wow your guests

1. The Matara Centre, Gloucestershire

How many wedding venues have a Hilarium? Or a fabulously high domed window you can fill with paper lanterns to create the most colourful, contemporary yet whimsical wedding styling?

I’ve never seen a wedding as creative, colourful, exciting and unique as Rachel and Neil’s. I was amazed and delighted when beautiful bride Rachel got in touch with me a few weeks ago – and I love the very bespoke and personal wedding they created.

It’s very, very difficult to know where to start! Rachel’s gold, bespoke wedding dress by Terry Fox is breathtaking. The theme for the day – peacock feathers and a riot of colour – works beautifully. The attention to detail with everything from invitations to bridesmaids and buttonholes is sheer indulgence and I love every little bit of it. The wedding photographs speak of love – the way Rachel looks at Neil (and vice versa) is so romantic. The wedding venue – round the corner from my very own apartment! – is magnificent and full of character.

It’s been about four years since I last exhibited at a wedding fair. I forgot how much fun they can be! I was at Muncaster Castle on the edge of the Lake District for their autumn wedding fair and loved every minute – meeting couples and their families, and chatting to other wedding suppliers was loads of fun. I’d do it all again in a flash!

One of the stars of the show was Sian from Angela’s Attic. Sian makes stunning vintage brooch bouquets and faux flower displays.

Julie’s cakes were gorgeous and tasted fantastic. I loved the cupcakes, and this tiered wedding cake was eye catching in the sunlight.

My Dad was taking pictures in a quieter moment at the fair! Look at the setting – what a gorgeous room for a wedding fair.

There are so many wedding fairs going on at this time of year that I don’t blog them as a rule. But this one’s special – it’s my favourite venue in the UK for weddings, only minutes from my childhood home in the Lake District and a beautiful, enchanting location.
