Hello!

So in our first guide, we spoke about what to look for in a wedding band. We think the second most important aspect when planning your wedding entertainment is the venue. How and why you choose it are the biggies. In this article, we’re only going to stick to topics that we at Seventh Second feel we have enough experience to inform you on. Information on venue catering, seating and decoration won’t be covered for example. However, you will find some very, very important information in this article if you are planning on having any kind of entertainment at your wedding so read on!

Even though this article speaks from years of experience, some of our advice may put you off booking with us but we don’t mind, we are happier knowing you have the information and knowledge to make the right decision for you when it comes to booking a venue suitable for entertainment.

The details of the day are breathtaking. The peonies in those fabulous bouquets look good enough to eat! The hydrangea / delphinium / English country garden table arrangements are so, so pretty – perfect for an early summer wedding. And I LOVE the naked chocolate strawberry cake… it looks lush!

I always like to pick out my favourite few photos to show you first – it’s a great way to set the scene for a gorgeous wedding blog feature, and I always love scrolling through a wedding, looking out for those amazing, eye-catching, breathtakingly beautiful moments to share with you. However… I tried it today, and within moments I had a list of a dozen STUNNING moments from Dale and Charmaine’s day. Safe to say this is a knockout, and I love every. single. pic.

In my many years of photographing weddings, I have been incredibly privileged to witness what I have. Such genuine emotion touches the soul and allows one to be completely and utterly immersed in a moment, collectively sharing joy and happiness with a congregation of brand new acquaintances. Here are a few tips and tricks I have picked up along the way for dealing with group photographs. Everyone wants them, however it is the one thing that guests continually cite as the one thing that they dislike about a wedding day. I make a point to all couples to make sure that this part of the day is timetabled and organised as efficiently as possible: when done correctly, group photos can actually be a lot of fun and present opportunities for great candid moments.

Photography is subjective – what I like, you may not. This presents you, my dear reader, with a choice to make: what do I like, and can I afford it?

What is important to remember at all times is the true significance of photography and the photograph. It preserves our lives and our memories in a way that nothing else can.

I wrote my dissertation on the importance of photography and found through thorough analysis of historical photographs and cinema, that photographs actually possess the power to effectively overwrite our own memories. When we attempt to recall a moment, our minds can recall a photograph as a stimulus rather than the actual lived memory. Consider that for a moment, and you’re more likely to remember the photograph of the event, rather than your own memory of the event you witnessed. With that in mind, photography is elevated to a status few thought possible, which adds a whole new dimension to the question, how important are my wedding photographs?

I’ve been busy recommending photographers I love to my friends who are getting married this summer – and everywhere I see couples are booking wedding photographers even for their weddings in 2017… I guess it’s that time of year. Which is perfect, because I like to think of myself as a matchmaker: I see a LOT of wedding photography and I want to help you hook up with amazing photographers for your wedding. Which brings me to lovely Liam Smith Photography

I’m tough to knock down with a feather… but you could swipe me to the floor with a bouquet like this. How incredible are those textures, the statement blooms and the colour scheme… I mean, like, wow. I’m speechless.

The flowers are by the wonderful mother and daughter duo Ann and Alysha at The Flower Stylist in Northampton. Ann has very kindly explained how the arrangements and bouquet were created and inspired by the bride’s vision of a loose, natural style.

I find it absolutely fascinating to see how a bouquet is structured and designed; how flowers are chosen and arranged, and how a flower stylist can create something amazing for every bride! Today has also been a lesson in flowers for me too… the Coral Charm peony is my new favourite. LOVE!!!
