“When I first saw this beautiful wedding dress by Watters at Agape Bridal Boutique, I was completely smitten! The nude colour tone and the tulle ruffles – it was so feminine and different!

“We just had to create a shoot based entirely around this dress not only for our own creative fun but also to showcase it!

“The English Countryside setting was perfect with the wild buttercups and luscious tall grass and this gave us the idea of a bouquet which looked like wild flowers that had been handpicked.

We then had the idea of scattering some of the pink lisianthus blooms along the skirt of the dress.

Today’s styled shoot features a cast of north west wedding superstars, creative talents I’ve admired since the beginning of the English Wedding Blog a whole 6 years ago. Kerry Baker‘s fabulous make up steals the show. Flowers by Red Floral are breathtaking. Jane at HF Couture‘s designer hair accessories are exquisite; the images by Teresa C Photography are out of this world. This is bridal style without compromise: a brave, striking and different look for those of you who don’t wear pastels. I LOVE this.

Not every bride dreams of a pretty pastel wedding. In the modern age of Pinterest and social media, we are seeing couples experiment more and more with texture and colour. One trend which is set to become very popular is the used of mixed metallics to dress the venue, creating a lavish, decadent and opulent style.

Today’s styled shoot is a favourite – I’m biased, because I’m a little bit in it (tooo exciting!) and also because the creative team behind the images are super lovely friends from the north west. Emma Billsborough is an amazing photographer, a fabulous person and a friend I’ve known through the English Wedding Blog for years – and this shoot is one of the most exciting projects of my year.

Emma brought together a fantastic group of north west wedding creatives to show couples how to style a day with colour. Mixed palettes don’t have to be soft and subtle, they can be bold and exciting and still ooze grace and elegance.

I love the way Emma B Photography‘s images capture the glamour and playful colour palette of the shoot. The cake – masterfully painted by The One Who Bakes – is a showstopper, don’t you think?

Hasn’t it felt as though spring is finally here this week? I’ve been walking in the hills before work each morning and enjoying the warmth of the sun on my face – it’s been bliss! And so I wanted to bring a little springtime to the blog for you today. This shoot is full of delicious florals and beautiful Charlotte Balbier gowns, in the loveliest natural setting… and showcases a whimsical bridal style which is just perfect for the warmer months.

Sticking to seasonal flowers such as gorgeous tulips in a fresh crisp colour palette really brought the colours, textures and scent of spring to life. Utilising fresh flowers in the hair really co ordinates the look.┬áPamela Dunn┬ácreated┬ádelicate texture using sheer voile fabrics – a perfect idea for softening any venue or backdrop.

Our springtime brides’┬áhair was kept soft and natural – beautiful curls and a rustic fishtail plait completed the look. Fresh floral crowns created a stunning focal piece.

Matching your wedding style with your venue is easy when you find a welcoming home-from-home which has years of character and charm in its very walls. Nestled among Lake District roads, with views to the distant hills and plenty of nooks and crannies for your guests to discover, is The Plough at Lupton, where today’s vintage-inspired shoot took place.

We have everything feminine and pretty with a sassy 1950s twist – a stunning hand painted wedding cake (the colours are SO┬áfabulous for 2016!), a sweet little vintage rose bouquet and a real vintage coach which almost steals the show! (Seriously: hats off to the vintage bus drivers of Cumbria; I’m a local girl and I know our roads. You are legends!) Oh, and did I mention the festoon lighting from Typical Type? It’s divine… and I’d never seen anything like it before 2016. Definitely a must-have for weddings with plenty going on outside!

I’ve been excited about today’s wedding style feature for SO long… you see I was in at the beginning, chatting about colours and style ideas for the calligraphy element of the day even before it happened.┬áI knew a little of what was planned… but oh my, how beautiful it all turned out to be.

Lovely Arusha’s Images Photography organised the shoot with a dream team of suppliers:┬áthe Charlie Brear┬ábridal separates are out of this world; the styling of the venue inside and out is gorgeous; and those lovely light-up letters by Typical Type are always guaranteed to brighten my day!

I’ll share the shoot in two parts: there were two distinct looks on the day and I wanted to show you all the ideas for a vibrant country wedding style first. Later this week we’ll see how a country wedding venue can play perfect host to a more vintage-inspired affair!
