It’s nice to feature a local wedding whenever I can, and Rebecca and Ashley’s simple but timeless wedding comes from just down the road from English Wedding Blog HQ on the edge of the Lake District. It’s lovely – Rebecca wears a dress by Temperley London, hubby Ashley made the wedding cake, instead of bridesmaids they have three page boys. This is a very personal wedding with a focus on elegance and classic styling, no over the top frills but plenty of help from the happy couple’s family to create the perfect English wedding.

Thanks to wedding photographer Jenna Carpenter for submitting the wedding to the blog, and to the gorgeous couple for such a lovely wedding report. Congratulations! I love this most of all: “I love the ring on my finger, I feel proud, I simply feel amazing. It’s been 2 months and I’m still on top of the world!

As well as the fabulous sunflower theme and homemade Scottish tablet wedding favours, there are Irregular Choice wedding shoes (LOVE these!), an Amanda Wyatt dress and a ride on the back of a tractor trailer for you to see today!

Louise has written a brilliant wedding story which you’ll find about halfway down the page. All of the images are by Jenna Carpenter, a wedding photographer from Broughton in Furness, Cumbria. This is a wonderfully creative wedding in a village hall – inspiring for couples on a budget and very personal and special.

Enjoy! Claire xxx

The wedding venue

We got married at St John the Evangelist church at Woodland (Near Broughton In Furness) then we had our reception at the Woodland Village Hall where we had a hog roast. There was no bar but my old friend from primary school, Martin, who runs a local pub, ran a bar for us and did a great job
