Today’s styled shoot is a favourite – I’m biased, because I’m a little bit in it (tooo exciting!) and also because the creative team behind the images are super lovely friends from the north west. Emma Billsborough is an amazing photographer, a fabulous person and a friend I’ve known through the English Wedding Blog for years – and this shoot is one of the most exciting projects of my year.

Emma brought together a fantastic group of north west wedding creatives to show couples how to style a day with colour. Mixed palettes don’t have to be soft and subtle, they can be bold and exciting and still ooze grace and elegance.

I love the way Emma B Photography‘s images capture the glamour and playful colour palette of the shoot. The cake – masterfully painted by The One Who Bakes – is a showstopper, don’t you think?

It’s almost Easter… I hope you have the most wonderful long weekend planned. We’re heading into the hills tomorrow, and then on a little road trip to see friends on Sunday, chocolate eggs clutched in our excited little hands! But before we go… I’ve been saving this loveliness for you. Gorgeous Rebecca & Adam’s wedding had an Easter flavour to it… they styled their day with pretty colours and the loveliest gold leafed eggs as place settings. It was the prettiest Easter wedding I’ve seen! Here’s how you can create a similar look for your day.

For a light and airy look to your day, choose a blank canvas venue, marquee or Sperry tent. Light wood tables and linen or hessian runners add a little home comfort – and the star of the show can be personalised egg cups with decorated eggs!

Little gold eggs at every place setting… personal egg cup place names, the most beautiful flowers with pale pink and pastel blooms… it can only be an Easter wedding, and this is the loveliest I’ve ever seen! Today’s wedding blog is an early treat for all of you Easter brides and grooms – you’re going to LOVE this!

Rebecca married Adam last Easter at Elmore Court. Their day is wonderful – they’re such a gorgeous couple and the photos of their wedding are just divine. Even the tiniest details are so carefully curated… “The ‘big’ things such as florist, hair and make up etc came by recommendation but for the smaller things I developed an obsession with wedding magazines, which I loved looking through for inspiration, as well as wedding blogs and there was definitely a lot of pinterest boards being created. I fell in love with Etsy and being able to talk to the suppliers and request personalised items worked really well for us. A lot of our extras came from there.”

Rainbows – the closest thing to magic we get to see in our English skies. I’ve never lost that girlish excitement I feel when I see one. I’ll stop in my tracks and grin up at the sky every time – and I definitely believe rainbows are lucky omens! So what better inspiration for styling a wedding? Rainbows have it all: luck and happiness, colour and fun!

Today’s English Wedding Blog feature is all about love and rainbows. Lovely Laura from Perfect Choice Planning got in touch to share this amazing inspiration shoot with me and I was hooked instantly. The images are divine, it features one of my favourite wedding industry friends Beth from Cakes by Beth, and the brides in the shoot are a real life couple –  their images have an exquisite tingly quality you’ll love!

Good morning! A special hello to everyone who’s popped back (although not literally popped, because I was careful with you) after reading yesterday’s oh-so-tempting blog post about Bev and Nath’s Walcot Hall wedding! Today as promised I can share all the fabulous details of their day as well as some wonderfully spontaneous, romantic, beautiful moments from the wedding reception.

DIY wedding UK Walcot Hall (1)

Bev told me the DIY was hard work but it meant they had the most personalised wedding. She said there was nothing they would have changed. Nath spent many a weekend stamping quotes from films and songs on cards that were placed around the venue, and this loveliest of couples took the time to write a small personal message on the back of each person’s place setting tag – it’s one of the lovely touches that prove to me that details on a wedding day can mean so much to people. The trick is to find a balance – and Bev and Nath did it perfectly!

Hello there! What do I have for you this morning… let’s see. A romantic, DIY-filled, inspiring wedding with hydrangeas, home baking, wildflowers… but I am only going to show you half of Bev and Nath’s incredible Walcot Hall wedding, because there’s far too much for one day. I don’t want any of you lovely blog readers to pop, after all. Or me!

So today I’m going to share some beautiful things with you, and then tomorrow I’m going to share even more. We’re talking hydrangea bouquets in a rainbow of colours, a gorgeous UK bride and groom, a quirky dream wedding venue, a cathedral length veil and a wedding dress by Romantica of Devon. Bev and Nath’s wedding also features individual bridesmaid styles, tons of ideas for reception decor (coming up tomorrow!) and the most sublimely romantic wedding photography…

Photographer Emma B says she was “in wedding heaven” with Bev and Nath at Walcot Hall – and I can really see why this gorgeous day made such an impression.  I know you’ll love it too. Remember to come back tomorrow for more!

The launch of Love Bridal today is something for the wedding industry in the North West of England to really celebrate. While I’m now Norther and Wester than all of the photographers involved in the shoot, I’m still delighted that English Wedding Blog is playing a part in this launch: the way these guys work together is inspiring.

This is a fantastic showcase of the wedding dress designers at Love Bridal boutique:

  • Terry Fox
  • Mia Mia by Alan Hannah
  • Intuzuri
  • Heritage Collection by Balbier Wyatt

It’s also a great introduction to some of the best wedding photographers in the North and West of England. These guys work together and share ideas because they have such different styles and perspectives – who’d have thought wedding photography came in so many shapes and sizes!

Three big ticks of approval: art deco? very lovely indeed. Pimms? Yes please! (it’s been a long day already… hee!) ice cream? Go on then, mine’s a vanilla with two flakes (see above). Seriously though – this wedding ticks all the boxes for a lovely couple, gorgeous details, unique and photogenic venue… and some fantastic special touches.

Sarah and Rich got married at The Midland Hotel in Morecambe back in July. The lovely pics are courtesy of wedding photographer Emma Billsborough – who will always, always be “ElmoBilbo” in my head, thanks to twitter. (Some handles just stick!)

I love the sleek lines of the wedding venue, the seaside location and the vintage ice cream lady – how cool is she?!

“We got married in Lancaster, where we had met at university, with the ceremony taking place at the chaplaincy on the university campus. It was amazing to arrive at the chaplaincy and see it transformed with flowers and decorations and full of our families and friends. We were married by a chaplain who we both knew from our time at university and family and friends provided the music and readings making it a really personal and special occasion.
